Do not all hilux’s look like the one in the pics on the first page? I’m still trying to figure out how to put up a pic of mine

It appears that yours has been removed at some point. Have you owned it from new? It looks like yours has been taken out and replaced with a tube. The black tube in the centre of you photo. The filter should sit in that metal clasp bracket that is empty.

I'm not sure why it would be a good idea to remove it, but I'm no expert. I'm sure others will be able to comment on that.

Absolutely correct. It has been removed, probably not good at all as the filter stops the oil mist from getting to the sensor and giving you dodgy readings!
It should be clipped in here

You should definitely grab one and throw it in there. Also clean out the line going to the map sensor and maybe replace the sensor too just to be safe..

Just need to cut it on that corner so you have a small section coming from the throttle body to the bottom of your filter. And the line that goes to the sensor plums onto the top.
Don’t worry about that crooked out pipe that’s where ive tapped off the line to monitor the boost level

2014 Hilux with 75000 kls on it. Sprayed degreaser through mine. Lots of black crap came out. Blew out with air. Re assembled and took for a spin. Instant boost in performance. Terrible throttle lag gone. Fuel usage has dropped from 11.5 Lts per hundred klms to average 9.5 Lt per hundred Klms over the last 400 Klms. Big saving for about a half hours work. Thanks guys.

Hej,

it `s really strange how much dirt is inside of this little filter...but the hoses are clean...

the effect is great...after 400 tkm... the vehicle runs smoother...

Thanks for your postings

I can also confirm cleaning out my MAP sensor made a noticeable difference in throttle response and torque down low in the rev range. Fuel consumption improved around 1 litre per 100km. Mines a 2014 SR5 model. Thank you for the post!

Cleaned mine out on the weekend. Bit of gunk came out but was expecting a lot more considering its never been done before. Hilux has just over 200kms on the clock.

Improvement in fuel economy but didn't notice much in the power side of things.

Are they serviceable?

A toyo filter is only $25.. so its a pricey upgrade.

They reckon it’s more reliable because it’s sealed and stainless, can handle more boost?
