The problem is the Toyota schedule itself, have a look in your owner's manual. From memory I don't think there is any fuel filter change interval at all, or it's a huge interval in the earlier ones. They really should revise it and inform all the dealers.

Just to revive an old thread, I have an 08 sr ex. Site car. Just clesned the Maf Sensor, though i couldn't get one of the hot wires shiny. But the easy to access wire i was worried had corroded, but a half a tin of the maf sensor cleaner and it came up like new. Hopefully will see a small result at the pump next time i fill, as i am only getting around 610-620km to a tank

I've done about 2000ks now and if anything my economy has gotten worse. It was fine before. I thought I'd just clean it anyway. Used to get 200k to a quarter (have a long range tank) now only getting 120. Any thoughts why

This is what the hot wires should look like after they have been cleaned with MAF Sensor Cleaner.
Note, this MAF sensor is off a newer model, but it gives you a good idea what the hot wires should look like.

Its an interesting argument.
I love the Diesel's, love the sound of em and more so their performance towing and off road (which is what I do)
BUT I agree the maintenance side is a pain in the arse, always something to do on em and costly.

Could I go back to Petrol? Dunno, would have to drive one on a real test.

no its disel; dunno how to put pictures; there is no attach button to click on this forum. i am sure now my hilux does not have an egr system and no maf sensor

I did this on the weekend and the MAF filter clean too, it seems to drive a lot smoother on the highway it will sit in top gear doing 120 up hills and not kick back so often!!

Not necessarily. Try holding the nozzle closer, about a centimeter and spray with short bursts. As it is a heated wire, all the dirt can become crusted so it might take a bit longer to come off.

Hay all, Will those values shown above in the test be the same for a 06 hilux? Just trying to work out whether to replace the MAF sensor.

Has anyone got the O-ring sizes.

Hello, New to this game but could do with some help in finding the location of MAP sensor on 2010 Hilux, I need to clean it, so any info on what to be wary of when taking it out etc would be much appreciated

MAP sensor or MAF sensor?
MAP sensor is on the battery side of the Intercooler under the engine cowling. There is a boost line that comes out of the throttle body, goes through the MAP filter (which you should also clean by the way) then continues onto the MAP sensor.



MAF sensor is ontop of the air filter housing.

Nothing overly tricky, be careful with the MAF sensor you’ll see when you remove it the wires are extremely thin, they look like they’d break easy.
Just get some MAF cleaner and keep spraying until she looks clean.

With the MAP filter. Use the same cleaner and spray it in.
You will notice the first bit that comes out the other side will be very black.
Keep spraying until clear liquid comes out.
