Abs modification turn abs/track off when needed.

Mod is back on the to do list. Got everything located and identified.

One question for Boxhead - The posts suggest that this mod turns off ONLY the ABS. Is that correct, or will this turn off the traction control as well ?

Thank you. That's exactly what I was hoping for !! ABS alone would have been worthwhile, but for my purposes, all three is even better !!!

Obviously insurance will void if the mod is active, i wonder though, will they also void even if it's inactive.

Along the lines of "you messed with the abs full stop"

Just remember though, turning off the TC ... you are ending up with 2 completely open diffs (unless you've installed lockers).
Not that TC is at all a decent replacement for a locker or LSD anyway...

Some motorcycles sold in Australia have had switchable ABS for many years, so I doubt that there is an ADR issue (but don't know for sure).

I would only switch it off in some offroad situations, and never on road - ABS on road is way too much of a good thing to turn off.

Got a locker in the rear. If I had known about this mod sooner, I probably would have fitted a Truetrac in the rear.

yeah id love to have it disabled offroad (locked front, lsd rear) ... it's always kicking in and making it's stupid noises and not actually doing much. in short its just too sensitive, set for tarmac resistance i presume.

Hope the helps

Hi Boxhead55,
thank you for this hint, I will try this out soon - to do list gets longer ;)

Do the brake lights behave regular after this mod?
Would be scary if not.

Happy new year,
Tim

BTW Boxhead - any idea how much current flows thought this wire ?? I just want to make sure that I avoid voltage drop with an extra couple of metres of wire to and from the switch.

Hi Boxhead, can you please tell me where roughly the plug/module is under the bonnet? and is the wiring layout/position of wires the same in 2015 sr5 lux (mine) the same as the second diagram you show?
Big ask i guess so if unsure;its all good
Thanks for showing us all how to do this mod by the way

You could use the 4wd light on dash as the trigger to disconnect the relay, but put a switch between that if you don't have lockers so you have the option, doing this way will mean you never forget to reinstate when back in 2wd,
And if you do have lockers, wire it to locker through the 4wd light,
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

If it's wired to activate in 4wd only, I don't see why you could get it mod plated cheaply

Pretty sure that if you read the thread, somewhere it says that the TC/ABS/VSC light comes on when the switch is used to disable the module.

If so there is your reminder !
