How do you remove the grill from 2013 SR5 4WD Hilux

Postby jemo on Sun, 09 Jun 2013 5:05 +0000

Hi everybody,
This is my first post so be gentle with me please. I've purchased a brand new 2013 SR5 Double Cab 4WD over here in NZ. Being of Scottish ancestory rather than pay Toyota NZ a fortune to fit the factory towbar/wiring and a stainless steel nudge bar I've decided to do it myself. Towbar and wiring installed no problems (instructions with towbar were easy to follow) I have now started to install the nudge bar - in the instructions it tells you to remove the upper grill. I have removed all the clips and screws but it won't come away from the bumper - it seems to be clipped into it somehow but I can't see how it comes apart? If there is anybody who has done this that could offer some advise that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Jemo

They are clipped into the bumper. If ya tricky enough ya can unclip it with a small flat blade. When I'm fitting a bullbar I usually take it off with the bumper and separate the two afterwards, much easier. Image

TOYZX's diagram is correct, the clip-plugs can be opened with a small flat head screwdriver but be careful not to use too much force or they'll break (like mine did).

When re-installing them, simply place them in the holes and push down with your thumb.
