I'm wondering how to fill the chassis rails properly to get a thorough coating. A sprayer can only reach so far.

I recently got pretty damn wet and salty through clay pans that had a ton of rain (was no way except through pretty huge puddles) ... whole damn lux got verry wet / muddy ... and pretty high salt content in the water (i stopped and tasted a puddle... saltyness).

Gave it one hell of a clean when i got home though (every single visible chassis rail hole with fresh, then karcher under for about 2hrs up on a stand) ... but even so there's plenty of surface rust on chassis where paint has been chipped, and surace rust on my back axle (where sand / terrain hs stripped paint back over time) so id like to hit it with something that will prolong its life.

That's always worrying after the fact, but great fun during!!

I have always used a 5ltr garden sprayer, which has the nice wand for reach and getting in those chassis rails. If you have trade access, you can get lanox a fair bit cheaper mate.
Cheers, Drew

The problem with common sense, is that it is not so common!

I used a shorts gun to spray cavity wax inside my chassis rails and it would also work for lanox, but you need a compressor for it. You can pick them up from auto paint stores for about $30. The long hose can be fed into the chassis.

Otherwise a garden sprayer would work.

I use the blue one above, I spray it on and then wipe it with a rag so its only thin and not too tacky.
I swear by the stuff and I work floating on salt water.

Yeah mate, expensive way to do it but doesn't last like Lanox does and its sticky. Similar product to INOX MX3

Where in WA are you Qwerty? I can get a 5 litre drum of lanox from BCF Mandurah for $90.

Lanolin, Lanox, Lanotech is all the same shit just different applications

hmmm hang on so you say "it doesnt last like lanox does" ... but then you say its the same shit, different applications??

I got the cans for $8 each (down from $18 each) ... so i might give the car a bit of a once over with the blue can (i only bought 3 of the blue can, none of the red can).

I'm sort of near Morley / Mt Lawley area. I could look at BCF or SuperCrap, or even AUto one / Auto Pro ... but went to covs as have family working there and thats what they had (the blue cans).

I presume the lanox you use, is just a more liquid form version of the aerosol version I bought?

Or maybe i shoudl turf this stuff and go straight for the lanox?

Anything i spray on or paint on i can gaurnatee wont last too long once I do my beach runs ... the under body gets sandblasted!

The main ingrediant in these products is Lanolin, which is waxy oil from wool animals. Without going into jibberish Lanox has a different bonding agent that stays on for longer and doesn't wash off like Lanolin.

Lanox isn't sticky and won't have dirt and stay sticking to where you applied it.

Lanox is safe to spray on rubber and moving parts.

I first used Lanolin, sand and dirt stuck to where I sprayed it and had to use degreaser to get it all off. Went to Lanox and still looking new. Spray lanox every 2-3 months and used about 500ml everytime. Three cans of lanolin will do underneth with 1/2 a can left.

i see i see ... hmmm, well i'll give the cans a go on trouble spots and just see how it goes for me...

if the stickyness annoys me, ill go the lanox route.

cheers for advice!

thanks dude. I shoudl be able to source some (albeit at retail pricing).

I'm questioning myself whether to even bother using the lanolin cans ... sounds like the stuff is flippin superglue??!

I also wonder if it staying sticky would mean it would hold moisture?

I used Lanotec lanolin before i went to frazer. Not a single sign of rust when i came home. By the time i got there it dried up and tackyness was gone. I work underground with highly corrosive water and if theres no Never seize, lanolin works a treat. I used one can on my extra cab. Just spray a section and see how it goes. Thinners should be able top remove it, or grease and wax remover

Well, I had one final thing to test on the plates I had coated, that was to spray the lanox over the cavity wax and see if it devolved the cavity wax (I already have cavity wax in the body panels and chassis). The result was that the lanox didn't devolve the wax, just added another layer.
