trip computer calibration

trip computer calibration

Postby bigtoe on Sun, 17 Feb 2013 2:46 +0000

Hey all,

Just a quick question. Ive noticed the average fuel consumption on my SR5 hilux trip computer appears to be off in its calculation. I regularly get a reading of 7.2 l/100 per tank but ive calculated it to be more like 8.2 (850 km with 70 litres of juice). The car has stock wheels and tires so not really sure why. Does anyone know if there's a way of re calibrating the trip computer for a more accurate reading.
Cheers

What you report is quite normal from what I've heard. Mine is about 10% out.
I don't know how to recalibrate but would also be keen to know how if it can be done.

That's interesting. My display says 9.2 km/litre down from 9.4 when new. (13k on the clock) still have original tyres and suspension. That works out at 10.7 litres/100k. So far mainly city driving. But I am running sprint booster permanently on red. Even so is 10.7 a bit high? considering claimed fuel consumption is around 8 litres. Driving style would be moderate I think as i don't flog it (but not driving miss daisy either).

You guys are getting some good averages. I use to get 10/100kms when my car was standard on freeway. Now I'm at 12.5 with all my mods. :?
cheers

Cheers for the replies. Im pretty happy with the fuel consumption. Most of my k.s are freeway with no load on board. Im pretty sure my speedo is out so when im doing 100kmh it is actually 90 ish. This might explain some of the reason fuel consumption is lower than you guys as the rpm is sitting a bit lower.

Yeah i meant my fuel consumption might be lower due to the fact that im likely doing 90kmh on the freeway instead of 100 so the engine will be revving less.

My 07 was about 12% out when I got it bone stock. Now running 0 offset rims with 265/75-16 tyres and it's now pretty spot on.
