Doing a service today and decided that I've got my money's worth from the original fan belt (115k) and decided to change it. Ratchet and socket wouldn't fit in there between the tensioner and fan and a spanner was too short.
I ended up finding an old 14mm ring spanner which I cut in half. Then I got a bit of 1/2" square tube that I had lying around. In the end of the tube I cut a wedge out of each side on one end then put the end of the spanner in it and tacked it in place. I then folded the top of the tube down to meet the spanner which closed up the wedge then grabbed the oxy and crudely welded it all together.
It worked an absolute treat and I had the old belt out and new belt in in less than ten minutes. This will definitely be carried in my spares kit with the spare belt
