Guys, anyone know if there is an entrepreneur who has made a kit with hardware, switch and instructions for this modification? I imagine it would sell like hot cross buns! Prado owners would be interested also.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

This all explained clearly earlier in this long thread with excellent pics posted by Batman.

I really doubt that a kit would be worth the bother Gipsy. It needs a length of wire and a switch - nothing else. Even if the bits are provided, the appropriate wire still needs to be cut and the switch put in. I am referring only to the 2005/2015 - know nothing about the current model, but can't see it being any any different - find the wire - put in a switch.

Various people have used relays (to enable less simple switches), illuminated switches, tell tales etc all of which are nice, but not necessary

I think your missing his point, he isn't wanting to just disable the ADD, he is fitting it to a car that has never had one so needs to find out how the ADD operates with reversing the motor and sorting the limit switches and timers if required, be a shame to burn out the motor the first time it is used.

Nicebike, I had the switch in mind, like the one xychix pictured above.

That's certainly a very sanitary way to go, and a kit would make that much easier. Still got my doubts about how many would sell.

\Oops - you're right. I misread "this" as referring to the thread topic. Reading too fast and thinking too slow

Just found the Stedi front diff lock switch for $20. Anyone used this switch and does it work ok? Does it light up when the add is selected on in 4x4 and remain unlit when add is disconnected? Otherwise any suggestions? Yes I know add is not a diff locker but as I have no need for a front locker this may do the job.

Gipsy if you are looking for something sano, I have an illuminated Toyota type switch here somewhere labelled "Low Range 2wd" or similar.

If that's the sort of thing you are looking for, let me know and I''ll find it and give you the details, and the switch if you want it, for postage and a couple of coffees.

My switch was custom made in a laser etch shop in Amsterdam, EU :D

HI I FOUND AN EASY WAY TO STOP THE ADD (FRONT DIFF ENGAUGING) ON MY 2014 HILUX DIESEL AUTO. BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX IS AN 4WD CONTROL ECU WHICH HAS 9 WIRES GOING TO IT OF VARIOUS COLOURS, ITS THE BLACK WIRE THAT YOU NEED TO CUT AND FIT A SWITCH IN TO. THIS BLACK WIRE IS A EARTH FEED THAT COMES OFF YOUR TRANSFER GEAR BOX LEVER. SO WHEN YOU PULL THE 4WD LEVER INTO 4WD IT SENDS A EARTH SIGNAL TO THE 4WD CONTROL ECU TO ENGAUGE THE ADD.

I guess the volume control is broken

I also guess the poster with 1 post didn't read the thread either cos that's all the thread is about

Good work tomo but it was pretty well covered in page 2 of this thread in 2008.

The current draw through to switch is 21ma. Or 0.021amp. So stuff all..

Check out the pics early in the thread and have a look around your Gen 8. If you can find a similar plug in a similar position, with the black wire, you could probably unplug the wire and check.

Costs nothing to look. I'm not an auto elec, so although I would happily do what I have suggested, I would also make sure that the temporarily disconnected wire didn't hit an earth - just in case.
