Installed mine yesterday, i bought the Nautilus compact version, fits perfectly on the bracket underneath the bonnet catch near the temp sensor.
Also got a chance to use it on a typical Sydney traffic tool today, think he shit himself when i unleshed it at him with his open window. The look on his face alone was worth every cent

Hello all with the Nautilus compact just a quick question I plan to mount it on to the bolt hole the opposite side to my current horn (SR only one horn there) I'll just make a little bracket to drop the Stebel down to miss the grill supports. I'll wire in a switch so I can still friendly toot.
The question did anyone use the attachment to feed the air from a hose like it says to for lots of offroad use.
I'm thinking about doing my breathers like someone else had on here so I might just make an extra hole for the filter for the horn as well or is this a bit of overkill as the horn is only $40.
Thanks, hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Wondering if anyone can help I had it wired in and working but I just got my switch can anyone tell me what wire inside the car is the horn trigger wire I've tried poking around with the multi meter but have had no luck so far?

Why don't you use the positive to the horn under the bonnet as a trigger wire twin core back into the cab, like you would wire spotties through a relay.
Not sure what your trying to do but if you put a switch in a wire under the dash your breaking the entire circut and niether horn will work when the switch is off.

I thought about doing it that way but I was trying to minimize wires going through firewall as I already have a heaps and figured that the horn inside the car would still have an in and out and I was going to tap off the out to power the switch
Thanks anyway

How do these go with river crossings then? Is there ways to seal them up, or should be right'?

Getting frustrated with city drivers cutting me off without looking.. think it's time for a bigger horn, but don't want it destroyed as soon as I drive through a bit of a puddle.

Jay

Assume your talking about the compact air horns?

Just don't blow the horn as you drive through the river.

They come with a length of hose, so you could make it draw air from the filter housing if you are really worried. But for a $50 horn I wouldn't worry about it.

This is my setup, bolted to the support braket behind the grill and used the existing horn wiring to trigger the relay for the air horn.

Mine just arrived today, will try hook it up pretty soon.
The diagram on the back has two diagrams.. one for "cars with ground lead to horn" and one for "hot lead to horn".
Which one do I follow?

It also has what looks to be an inline fuse to the battery.. not familiar with the current wiring, but re-using the wiring from the stock horn, do I need an inline fuse? Is there anything else I need to know?

And from the diagram, looks like the wire cut from from the original horn running back to the relay goes nowhere, do I just seal that end off?

(Back into the scary zone.. wiring. :? )

Jay

4 pin relay:
30 power in fused
85 earth
87 to new horn
86 from standard horn plug.

Easy as that. I put these in yesterday

Hilux has a switched + to the horn.
There is actually a 2nd horn plug behind the grill, so you can just plug the trigger wire for the new horn into that and run both.
Do NOT just run a compact air horn off the factory wiring. They draw way to much current. Run the compact air horn off the battery, through a 30amp relay. Only use the factory horn wiring to trigger the relay.

The whole switched positive confuses me...

Yeah I think i'm going to go with what GB said.. it came with a relay too.
How do I fuse it though? I'm guessing it's not the same as running an inline fuse like when hooking up an amp, right? :?

Jay

Pretty much, just put a fuse between the batter and pin 30 on the relay. 20 or 25 amp will do.
