Happy solution for the piss weak horn problem,

Originals are at the top (CRAP!!!)
The 2 below are from a Falcon and an Astra.... cost me 10 bucks at the wreckers

No more hiding when I hit the horn... YAY!!!!

Yeah mate I've got 2 similar horns installed right behind my grill. Works great as we use our horns here as a second language. Image

Yes the horns on the hilux are a digrace, Ive been contemplating throwing a air tank and horn in but will probably opt for one off ebay stebel http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stebel-Nauti ... 1c21e969ac

Are the Astra/Falcon horns a pretty easy swap? Much difference in mounting/wiring?

yeah same question as cauchs, is this a plug n play scenario?

my VE ute had a great deep spike the blood pressure type horn, as did astra

Yet a big heavy truck has a little beep beep barina horn.

Does anyone have the Stebel Nautilus non-compact version?

How is the fit?

yep, fits no problem. mine is mounted on the crossmember thingy in front of the radiator - the thing where the horn wires clip into, drilled an 8mm hole and all good.

Thanks Actilux,

I can't believe you pay $40-odd K and you get a clown car horn...

Those Astra horns are great, got a pair in my 07 lux. The plugs are different, however, I went to the trouble of putting together a separate loom and relay, as the trumpet style horns use more power, and I thought the original wires looked a bit poxy for the job. :geek:

Should work fine. Dunno whether the horns are polarity sensitive or whatever, I just checked with Holden which wires were + and -.

Had to run a switch to select between the two horns as I keep forgetting that it's there. Now I have the option of a friendly toot. :)

I like it, I always wanted to permanently mount a compressor and air tank to run a pair of truck air horns....... with the pull string above my door and all! 8-)
