Constant air compressor

Interesting figures Kyle. In practical terms I don't think the hassle of sorting out a fly by wire rev increaser solution is worth the drama given you are not saving much time anyway.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

I agree, I am only going to knock up the Celerator Stick as Ive been told that the shower heat exchanger needs to run at 1500 rpm. I stand to be corrected.

I would be more interested in using a hand throttle for slow crawling through rough surfaces and for winching/jump starting.
Stop laughing and give me a hand with the winch!

Sorry for my late reply guys.
Have been flat out with work and have been getting home too late to take photos.
Anyway I have now taken a few quick shots. When I get a chance (tomorrow maybe) I will take the top cover off and take a few more for you. Let me know if you want any more info. Only thing is I haven't tried timing inflation times... As I mentioned before you guys are welcome to swing past and have a look.
Sorry for the crappy pics.. engine bay needs a tidy up (wiring) and a wash...DS.

Thanks Denis,
appreciate the time youve taken. Are you running a tank as well, or just filling straight off the compessor?

hi Guys
Been watching this thread fo the last couple of weeks and have decided to share this.. Last month i had a brainwave and built myself a tandem tipper trailer out of a 8' x 6 alloy tray and an 8 ton rated hydraulic ram with which is operated using a simple air drive unit. very simple design and effective but uses heaps of air which bought me to where we are now. Unfortunately the $350 for bracket, $300+ for compressor and $70+ for pully is a little rich for me to justify just to tip the odd load of wood off the trailer so i thoughtr how hard can it be?
Picked up a compressor from the wreckers for $50 and a pulley to sandwich between the water pump and fan for $20 and an old compressor from the local recycling centre and a weekend of head scratching and it is a reality..
Now if only i had read the post on how to upload photos

I was just thinking for your idle up thing.. Does the engine idle up for the aircon at idle? Cant remember. If it does you might be able to run a switch to the cab off the switch on the aircon if you know what I mean..

Id also be iterested in the home made jobby..

Cheers,

Chris.

Hey Chris you Gypsey, my idle doesnt go up on air. I had a baby gate well I actually used it for my dogs in the house that was until my staffy ate through it, Anyways I still had it so I cut the dowels off and just left me the sliding mechanism that wedges the gate against 2 walls ( if you get my meaning) so now I just have to notch that out to hold on the base of the acelerator and shes done. No trouble for a chippey
It is on my to do list so will put up a picture when completed but it is the same as Rods the ideas man

Lol. Sounds good kyle. You could also cut down an old tent pole..

Nice. So is it just an old aircon pump? Much work in making brakets?

basically by taping a thread in the hole and placing a grub screw you are seperating each end of the compressor from each other, basically from what i understand the top end from the bottom end. this hole that is now plugged did allow for compressor oil and gas to flow between to lubricate etc. After blocking off i have removed the oil filler plug and replaced with a grease nipple and pumped approx 1/2 a cup of general purpose grease into it. i have utilised an old LP gas bottle ( maybe about 3-4 litre) as a receiver which due to it small size i have located under the bullbar (toyota breaker bar) on the right hand side behind the parker lights.
