Or being such a low idle would it still spin the compressor and produce air? Or like alby said would just halve the output....

Has to still work, after all your air con works fine at idle. I would have expected a linear relationship between output and RPM. Still a huge amount of air.

Revs sit on 900 rpm, with the power heat button on it runs at 1200.
Was looking at a hand throttle, Rod did a bit of work on it. I dont want anything too dodgey though. He found 1 off around a 60 series cruiser. Not sure if they are available now but it might be able to be modified.
Just has a knob mounted on the dash somewhere and the other end fixes to the accelerator somewhere.

Unless you can rig up a mechanical connection to the pedal itself, you have to use an electronic device to modify the TPS voltage sent to the ECU. There are two sensor circuits (or is it 3?) for safety so you'd have to modify both.

It'd be a piece of cake for somebody with some electronic knowledge and a embedded controller like the Arduino which already has the voltage outputs.

going to go out today and grab a hand throttle off and old cruiser, will bring it home and have a play with it.
Im told you need to run revs at 1500 for heat exchanger haven't fitted my shower yet but would be good to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
Just need someone who can weld.......

Off topic but have been reading the thread one of these puppies. Seems to be a lot of us out there with welders but not that good at welding.
Someone who is good at it should start a thread to give some basic tips like distance and pattern to run a weld, I know I could do with the help

I've wondered about the hand throttle as well. I was wondering if you could get a throttle position sensor and stick a knob on it. I'll have to look at the sensor and see if it's possible.

i might take you up on that,. Ive made an off road trailer and steel canopy so I have done a fair bit of welding which has held together. Its just getting it nice and pro looking instead of building the weld up too much or getting a hole blow into it.

I've got an Endless brand compressor kit. Uses a small air-con type compressor and works very well. Fills my 22 litre tank to 110psi in about 90 seconds. Great bloke to deal with and knows his product.

That's fine when it's cold but the idle up cuts out when the engines at operating temp.

You want a square air tank receiver? How much pressure you plan on putting in it?

110 will be fine, will get internal baffles in it to give it extra strength. Should do the job, will do the same thing with the water tank, also planning to use stainless,

Hi guys,
Thought I'd give you a quick opinion of the Air-On-Board system. My vehicle was the test vehicle for the Hilux kit.
All I can say is that it's great! It comes in very handy time and time again. I will get some pics tomorrow for those of you who are interested. You will be surprised where the compressor is fitted! The unit has been very reliable (never had an issue) for the 12 or so months I've had it. Also Craig from AOB is a genuinely great bloke. He has been working with a/c's and compressors for many many years and once you meet or speak with him you will have no doubt of his knowledge and expertise. I am in the western suburbs of Melbourne if anyone is thinking of getting the system and wants to have a look.

Thanks Denis, any imput is appreciated. How have you found getting air compared to rpm? Weve been trying to come up with a way to increase the rpm, but with the fly by wire system it looks like its back to the broom stick (no offence Rod)

Ok got some more info: Thhis is taken from a Mazda Bravo which the hilux will have very similar results, bearing inmind that there is an air tank;
Bravo twin cab running an AOB SD7V14 compressor with a 20 ltr tank cycling at 110 to 120 PSI

Basically Ive spoken with auto electricians, including from Toyota and searched the nett , and have concluded that there is no point in trying to chase a hand throttle through the fly by wire system as to the best of my knowledge has not been invented yet.
