The red lights on dash still go bezerk they just don't beep

Disconnecting actual seat sensor isn't good idea

But I have a 2007 SR X-tra and I dont have a trip computer.

So I thought the switch idea would be the best option, because I kinda like the fact that I always wear my seat belt because of the beeper. But at times it can become very annoying.

So with the switch you get the best of both worlds and just flick a switch if its bothering you at the time. but then turn it back on for everyday driving.

It's done in the odo menu not trip computer

Disabling the beeper doesn't disable airbags

Cutting cables does (whether by a switch or just unplugging).

I don't get it. Why don't you just disable the beeper the way designed it to be disabled ?

Because before owning this car I never used to wear my seatbelt, and now its automatic.

If I just disable it, I might go back to my old ways

which could be an expensive move!

Yep did it with my Sr 2012 today, worked 1st time. :) :) When I left the dealer yesterday I told him about the mod and that it would be the first thing I would do. He was sceptical at the least and said if it's true then his service blokes would be doing it to all the Hilux's. Seems the knowledge on this forum surpasses Toyota itself.
Thanks guys.

ok

under the steering wheel colum is 1 screw holding the plastic on, remove it

then turn the steering wheel 1/4 turn left, remove thr screw behind the wheel, repeat for 1/4 turn tot he right

remove lower column cover

on the ignition barrel is a white plug with only 2 wires, one is green and 1 a cream / beige colour from memoery

unplug this, and replace the column cover.

i have found no issues after doing this as it is just a loop wire that detects key in lock barrell

the headlights etc still beep
