could anyone tell me do you have to modify any of the fuel filler as in shorten it bend or make a new bracket for it or should your tray fit perfect over it the way it is.

You will most likely need to remove the bolt that holds the filler to the chassis and fashion a new bracket as the trays are usually lower than the original position. Normally you will need to rotate the fuel neck in the hose to get it to fit and sometimes slide the neck into the hose as well.

The fuel filler necks have no bolt holes so using a muffler clamp and brackets is the best way to go.

Get it as high as you can and ensure there are absolutely no kinks in either the filler or breather hose as they have flow issues when under trays.

SRD4D,

1810mm wide - useable (between dropsides) and 1770mm long - usable (between head board and rear drop side). As you can see the headboard is snug to the cabin which looks better and reduces length.

I'm really happy that I did it. I do not miss my old set up of canopy cargo draws at all.

When building be sure to include trundle tray and wheel arch tool boxes. These are so useful when touring or just keeping basic tools secure around town. I would also allow for water storage if you intend going bush a bit. I'm gonna fit a tank beneath the tray - plenty of room.

Around 1800 wide or as wide as the lux is at the front from flare to flare is ideal.
Length on the dual cab is perfect from 1650 to 1750 (or shorter for comp tray )

Hi fellas, never posted on here before, so please forgive me if I am going about this the wrong way.

At the moment I'm trying to replace my tub on my hilux, it's an 06 dual-cab sr5.

I have found a 2012 sr5 tub for sale and just seeing if you blokes had any idea if it would or wouldn't fit.

Is there a part to change the fuel filler from the tub to tray type? If so does anybody know the part number?

Mark to the best of my knowledge its a straight swap.
Ben dont know a part number, I changed mine from a tub to a tray and didnt have any dramas. Although I did cable tie the filler to hold it tight. Have heard of getting a filler line off a tray from the wreckers including key locking cap. There are also after market locking caps you can get, which reminds me Ill have to get around to that

yeah that's about the only part I wasn't sure about, I was thinking about putting the trailer plug socket to the side of the number plate, would that work alright or would it be better to put it underneath?

Which ever you like definately avoid the under side of the tow bar if you go off road, you should be able to mount in on top of the tow bar itself

I know ones plastic and unlockable (factory tub equipped) and the other steel and lockable (Cab-chassis) but thought they;d mount the same on the filler necks.

Max they are different ends the tub ones have a threaded cap and the factory locking tray ones have a bayonet type locking head
They mount up the same, it is just the neck fitting that is different

Ah! so you not only need the locking cap, you also need the neck to suit.

That's it Max, you replace everything back to the flexible rubber hose

I have a 2004 Tub which I have taken of my 3.0L Dual Cab, Does anyone know how heavy the tub's are?
Just so I cant see how much heavier the new drop side will be...
