geez.i wrongly tried to remove the bit with the blue dot..thinking it was in there [need to read posts closer]..bolted it up again when I felt the resistance..iv now taken out the one shown in second pic..clean as whisle..but whats the other in the close up one in you fingers :?:

ok..found the right one..blew it out with maf spray and yeh bit off gunk was in it..just waiting for it to dry..feeling a bit silly :roll: but iv learnt something new.

Did this yesterday along with cleaning the sensor for the first time 200,000 on the clock.the amount of gunk that came out of the filter was surprising and the sensor was filthy.drove to Sydney and back today the difference in fuel usage and boost response was amazing.very very impressed with the results thanks heaps for the tip,ill be cleaning them every time I do air filter now. :D

I cleaned the MAP sensor today and found a huge difference. Heaps of gunk came out. Once done, it felt like I was dropping the clutch because I'm not used to there being power down low. Much pokier. Good work!

After doing a service and going over everything I found my map filter cracked, went up to Toyota and trade price is $40.... Had one of these lying around at home, uses the same filter element as the genuine one, $6 from supercheap I think. Part # Z675

Might be dumb question, but does it matter which way you spray the cleaner in?

And are you meant to open the filter up to clean out the felt, or does it break if you try to open it?

It is a sealed unit don't cut it open. I have saved you the effort

Never seen that attempted. It is a first for me. It may get blocked by the oil ? Time will tell

Shouldn't be too much oil as I've fitted a catch can with filter.

Sweet. Will be easy to see that's for sure if you spray it clean every service. Could not see problem at all
