Looks good, I planning a similar build, but won't need room for a roof tent

How do the sports bars go carrying weight? Thinking I could use this to carry my 2 canoes......

I would rate them stronger than any roof rack, 4 inch bar supported by the sides of the tub. I wouldnt hesitate loading it up. I'm 90 kg, the rack around 40kg I get up on top all the time and it feels alot stronger than the arb steel rack I have on the roof, wish I'd made it full length now not wasted money on the arb.

Hey wld_64,

What's the chances of a few more photos of your roof rack, very interested in something similar. I like your hi-lift jack and maxtrax holders and the tiedown rails. Looks like you have put a lot of thought into your design - something that I lack   ... If there was any issues you came across when mounting the roof rack and general experiences while building it, that would be great.

Cheers

I will take some pics when I get a chance, no issues I came across, all mounted up pretty easily, would have mounted it lower but wanted it to be in line with the ARB Rack to make it easier to mount a full length awning.

looks awesome, am looking to do/get something like this but am not great with the tools. hoping to have it extend maybe 500-650mm over the front of the sportbar to hide a led bar. do you think the sportsbars could hold that? also do you think it would be too much effort to remove the setup when not needing it? any more pics would be awesome

The workmanship is awesome, but as strong as it looks I would be a bit concerned with what is supporting all the weight, 12 small bolts into light body panel on the edge of the tub. The combined weight of the loaded rack multiplied by the tracks throwing the car about a bit and a few kilometres of corrugations. Metal fatigue will be an enemy.

Just my opinion.
