Toyota has issued a safety recall for more than 45,000 of its most popular vehicles after it was revealed a fuel pump fault could cause the car to cut out while driving.

The complaint includes several models from the world’s largest car manufacturer including the Camry, Corolla, Land Cruiser, Kluger, Hilux and Prado.

Anyone who bought one of these models between October 2013 and April this year is being urged to contact their local Toyota dealership immediately.

The more pertinent information is as below.

Its the Toyota Hilux (TGN121)

Model Years 2013-2019

10,771 affected vehicles

What should you do?
“Toyota will contact affected owners in writing with an interim notification advising of this safety recall and will re-contact once parts become available requesting that owners make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer for repairs, free of charge,” the company said.

For further information, consumers should contact the Toyota Recall Assist helpline on 1800 987 366.

You can also check the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) lists here.

this is going to be a fun repair , considering that fuel pumps are in-tank for most cars nowadays

I was thinking that myself as well ....

Are they referring to fuel pump under the bonnet or the sender in the actual fuel tank?

If it is the one in the fuel tank, imagine many of us have all sorts of different long range tanks.
This is indeed going to be a headache for Toyota ....

From the model codes, I suspect these are largely petrol powered vehicles.

It’s only petrol powered vehicles and anyone who has ever done so could tell you that replacing an in tank fuel pump is easy. I’ve done it. (Drop tank - remove old pump - slot in new pump - replace tank).

This is a very small issue and is being sorted by a very large company.

Chill out you lot.

It was announced last night that many Toyotas including the hilux will be getting improved fuel pumps because apparently the current ones have stalled in a few cars. A new wearing part for free, yes thanks.

For the record has anyone had a fuel pump problem? I can't remember reading that as an issue on here.

I know if you drive an auto and you put one foot on the brake and the other on the accelerator (and press at the same time) the traction control will kick in and make the car go dead until you take your foot off one or the other.
Never heard of this new problem though.

Wasnt it easier for them than to say that this recall is not affecting diesel vehicles then?
But nooooo, that would be too simple ....

They published a list of affected VIN numbers. Pretty simple.

I know mate, and I get your point. But people have other things to worry about rather than checking for something which could be avoided just by a simple sentence "Diesel vehicles not affected".

How hard is that? They do not pay tax on words and sentences yet ...

Haha your expectations are too high for these people.

Interesting to see that only 116 petrol 200 series sold in Australia during that period.

Confirmed with Toyota dealership, no matter what fuel tank one have - they will do it.
It is not fuel tank that is recalled, its the fuel pump.

My god!
Tony2 posted that recall was announced, but in another section of the forum.
I then replied to him that there is another topic in regards to that in this appropriate section.

Moderator then moved his topic and all posts and merged it with this topic, but did not delete my reply to Tony2 which now once all is merged left my reply to Tony2 irrelevant.

I then edited my reply to Tony2 and left dots.

Quite a few hours after that you rocked up here in this topic and replied only “.” for no reason at all.

Quick search of your past post shows that you have tendency to follow people on the forum and kinda annoy them (myself, bushwalker, toyz...).
Maybe you are bored or whatever the reason is man, its just not on.
People are trying to help each other here and not play your games.

So please drop it, at least I will, not playing your silly games dude.
Enjoy.
