Roofracks

Hi All,

I have an EGR Canopy with the strengthening kit which includes the 2 roof racks.

I would like to install a 3rd roof rack above the cabin, but I am a little unsure if there is anything that will achieve the same level between the front and canopy racks. How have others dealt with this, are there height adjustable racks?

Not much really, long planks of wood from Bunnings has been the recent issue. Mightnt need to be exactly level, but close would be nice.

How long are the planks? I've got the racks on the canopy, nothing on the cab and a removable rack for the bullbar. I just slip it on when I need it and it ties down to the bullbar with telecom rope. Works a dream and I've had 6M lengths easy. Had a 9M length on one occasion but had to hook up the trailer as well so that I didn't overhang too much to be legal. Food for thought. If you're interested in mounting details, let me know and I'll take some pics for you.

What is the hight difference of your rack to the roof at the center of the driver's door

The racks on the canopy were on it when I bought the vehicle. The one on the Bullbar I made it to be level with the canopy racks and there is around 6" to 8" clearance over the cab roof which (so far) has been enough to keep the sagging loads off the roof.

Take care when loading across both the canopy and cab, Toyota actually say not to do it. The cab sits on compliant rubber bushes and the front bar may want to move around. I sometimes load across both but allow for some flexibility particularly if not on a smooth road.

You just made me think of worst case scenario. Think about a load tied to the canopy AND to the cab AND to the bullbar. Now think about the chassis twist you get going up somewhere like Widowmaker in the Glass House mountains and see if you'd like to put the 2 together? :) :) :)

Great Point Dave, there's probably a number of brands that have various options. I don't recall what brand it was, but there was a discussion a while ago about one brand giving wind noise at particular speeds. Was it just one brand, or even just one "Model"? I don't really remember. Or is this the sort of thing that happens across multiple brands and models?
Just wondering!

I have same HD rhinos make sure you put the inserts in l have never had any problems with noise
Wind noise cames from small holes just like blowing over a bullet shell
I have 3 bars on the cab and a basket on the canopy and on hassle with noise.

Or i might be deaf
