has anybody mounted a front towbar?

Postby numberplate on Fri, 15 Sep 2017 1:28 +0000

just wondering if anyone has made a front mount , removable hitch , towbar for the N80? A couple of N70 owners have them ,( custom made ) and i dont even know how legal they would be
perfect for shifting my boat into tight spaces.

i dont have a bullbar at present , just a nudgebar. any ideas?

I have one on my 2011 that is not home made, it came with the bulbar and can be fitted to either side. It is not as good as having one in the middle like I had on my HZ Holden Overlander, but still useful.

Here is the 2005 to 2015 version, you can see the tow hitch holes on each side. Not sure if the bar for the 2015 onwards has this facility:

I don't have one but can't imagine why they would be illegal. Also, in the caravan world the preferred is on either side so you can see down the side of the van when reversing into a tight spot.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

I've tried both and centre is miles better, for a car trailer with a Monaro or Sandman van or whatever on it. Unless you are pushing it straight having it offset makes the whole lot too wide, whole idea is for tight, twisting spaces. If you have the room for the combined width with an offset ball you might as well just reverse it. If you can't reverse in reality you shouldn't be towing a van!

thanks for the replies , its not the fact that i cant reverse , just that its a very tight spot , and a long way back from the street.
I may make something thats removable from the nudgebar or just get a powered unit , see what happens.
