Aerial

Aerial

Postby NebulaLux5 on Wed, 16 Aug 2017 3:15 +0000

G'day all

Just wondering what kind of aerial is better to have? I currently have a thin one mounted but I've heard from numerous sources (4by clubs, magazines, other 4by forums etc) that the thicker ones are actually much better and have less chance to get damaged? Is this the case or is it total BS?

Thanks all

not BS at all. I have been through 3 thin (cheap) fibreglass whip type antennas ... they kept getting destroyed by courrgations

I then bought a boomstick thick type one, evne that died after a few yeras, now I have a heavy duty Uniden sucker that is strong as houses. I should know, i accidentally drive into the car port with it... and it ripped a hole in the gyprock ... not a scratch on the antenna, go figure!

I went for the 6.6dbi large antenna, which also came with a shorter 3dbi for around town, interchangelable.
