Hi, I have a 2016 SR5 with a ARB Ascent canopy. I want to know if it is possible if you can fit a rhino rack 1528mmx1236mm pioneer platform rack on both the canopy and the cab together the cab one will be with the new backbone mounting system.

Shouldn't be a problem. There's no overhang from the platform if mounted on either roof, so it shouldn't impact another platform on the opposite roof.

Re: the Backbone system. In case others are interested, I enquired about whether or not there were any distinct advantages with the Backbone compared to the ordinary RLT600 quick-release mounts. This was Rhino's answer:

The backbone mounting system has been designed to have a sleeker profile, to have a higher load rating and to be more aesthetically pleasing than the RLT600 setups. As the load rating is most often determined by the roof of the vehicle and not by our products the load rating is limited to 100kgs for both options for the Hilux.

The main differences to consider for your particular vehicle are 1) if you prefer the look of the backbone mounting system, 2) If height restrictions are something of an issue for you, you may wish to consider the RLT600 setup as this is a quick release leg, allowing you to take your platform on and off of the vehicle with comparable ease, whereas the backbone is fixed, 3) While you should expect some increase in wind noise when adding anything to your vehicles roof, the Backbone mounting system should be quieter than an RLT600 setup.

Just a heads up, I inquired about this and was told it cannot be mounted to both the canopy and the cab as the move separately. I'm getting one mounted to my canopy and just having a overhang.

Ah! Many apologies to the OP and others: I incorrectly read it. I thought the OP wanted to mount two platforms, each one separately to the cab and canopy roof.

While two separate platforms shouldn't be a problem, trying to mount a single platform across both roofs would be very problematic due to both the tub and the cab flexing independently.

Fairly sure he does mean to mount two separate trays, not one over the entire length.

I don't think two 1528x1236 will work, there would be too much overhang at the back of the canopy and the door would probably hit it.
A 1328x1236 on the canopy might work though.

The front page of the Rhino Rack catalogue pictures a current Hilux with two platforms on top.
