Factory Bars for 2016 Hilux. Yes or No?

I ordered mine with all factory gear. It makes for a lot less hassle to have it all fitted by the dealer and not have to run around to multiple places if you have an issue (if you are time poor).
I personally like the look of the factory bars and they tell you they are "designed for the vehicle by Toyota".

After its all said and done they all have to be airbag and crumple zone compliant and I would actually be surprised if the made any difference in a front impact.

Looking at the Toyota steel premium bull bar. Has anyone painted / colour coded their bar? Any ideas what it would cost to get the bar painted?

Factory bars are crap, had a test drive the other week ( thinking about trading in) salesman said they were thinner and lighter because they are made from high tensile steel. After a long discussion about the width of the pillars and just not enough metal between them, i kneed the middle of the bar and bent it. Discussion over.

You sir, must be one serious unit. I've cleaned up 3 smaller roos so far without leaving any noticeable trace...

I have a oem steel bar fitted to mine. Toyota upgraded the front springs to suit.
Its not the winch bar either.

I look after a fleet of 2016 Hilux dual cabs all have long range tanks plus steel bull bars canopy s second spare plus mounting
Question s
Can the trip fuel left be reset to read the new tank capacity.
With the steel bull bar no Winch should the front springs have been updated when bar was fitted.
7000klms and front of cars starting to look a bit saggy.
Ps I still prefer my 2013 extra cab to the new ones pity the extra cab was not released with a auto
I am look for 2013 dual cab auto witch is written off for auto part s tran / wiring /trim etc

i had a look at an SR5 yesterday with a factory bar on it - there isnt much provision for mounting of spotlights without the lights sticking out a fair way from the bar.
i prefer the look of the ARB bar - but each to their own.

I ended up going with the genuine premium steel bull bar, added bonus was hiding the winch behind number plate, ARB AR32 spotlights fit perfectly and extremely difficult to steal spotlights (the current hot item in my town are LED spotlights), can't twist them off and hard access to spotlight bolts (pretty much the spotlights got mounted before the bullbar was installed). As for strength the Toyota website has a test video of the bullbar hitting a 75kg simulated load at high speed but will see how it fairs once i actually hit a roo!

G'day Guys,

I spent a significant amount of time going over bars and I have to say, TOYZX has hit the nail on the head in his posts. I can't imagine the genuine bars standing up to what they need to. The other comments regarding depth for mounting spotlights etc are bang on (especially with the nice shiny set of FYRLYT Nemesis 9000s :D ). Even my usual dealer couldn't recommend it to me for my uses... Pity since I thought the look of the genuine bar wasn't too bad. Ended up throwing a disgusting amount of cash at ARB to get it all sorted but at least its proper sorted (yes ARB charge like a wounded scrub bull but there are some circumstances which limited my decisions) in time for a pickup on Tuesday :)

Hope this helps guys.

I found out on Friday that ARB can't fit their recovery points on a Hilux fitted with a Toyota bar - another reason to go with a TJM or ARB bullbar.......

Has anyone got an idea of the weight of the Toyota and ARB bars?

I know the stock tojo scraper bar on my N70 weighed over 80kgs. My Buds on the other hand, weighs about 55kg.
I might be wrong.

Gen 8 hilux premium bar is about 55kg i think (not 100% sure but it is a lot lighter than they ever used to be I reckon) ARB summit bar is about a net increase of 70kg after bits and pieces of the bumper are cut off. The summit side rails and steps are a net increase of about 50kg after originals removed. UVP net increase of about 20kg. TOYZX can probably give a better idea since he handles the things every day. ARB's Europe data has excellent data sheets for all their kit but one cannot 100% guarantee that they are exactly the same as here so I could just be talking cr@p with the aforementioned weights!

This might give an idea:
