Fuel Gauge Firmware Update 2016 Hilux

Fuel Gauge Firmware Update 2016 Hilux

Postby sugaris on Fri, 02 Sep 2016 12:35 +0000

Hi Team,
Can confirm that Toyota are releasing a new firmware for the fuel gauge. This is to correct some units (mine for one) from reading incorrectly. I don't know exact dates but it has been confirmed as coming.

Regards,
Sugaris.

Gauge reading quarter of a tank... fill up and only can only get in 43 liters in. That's around 20 liters out.

Is this to resolve the indecisive shifting?

Thanks sugaris, will this simply come up as an update on the tablet display? (I have the fuel needle issue)

Cheers

Wouldn't hold my breath, 11 years with the last model and they couldn't sort out a weak clutch, that couldn't handle 343nm of torque

I would assume the dealer would have to upload the update via their computer to the car

The Auto Transmission firmware update is to resolve several issues including indecisive shifting especially when cold. (mine does this)

All firmware updates will have to be installed by the dealer.

For those members here that have the auto and have the clunking issue. There is a replacement tail shaft (Field Fix) that is available. All you need to do is contact your Toyota dealer and tell them you want them to replace yours. My Hilux has been fitted with a field fix tail shaft and it's as smooth as silk now!

If I find out any more information on dates ect I'll post them up.

I like that optimism. I have asked multiple times for the replacement and been told that they "havnt herd anything from Toyota about a replacement", then proceeded to basically condescend me in saying the information, will come from Toyota not, the internet.
With the freedom of information these days, who do they think they are kidding?

I can't wait for this firmware update to come. I thought I was going mad when it's saying zero on my fuel range counter and I'm only putting 59 L in the tank. I thought 550 km per Tank was pretty poor. But then I realised I had 20 L still in the tank so the fuel economy is not too bad. On the trip computer it's saying I'm averaging 11.1 litres Per 100 kilometres. But when I work it out manually it works out to 9.1 litres per 100km. I think the computer is thinking you're using 80 L stead of 60 L that's why the fuel average is so much higher than it should be. :? :?

550km for 60l = 11L/100k so the trip meter is right. The fuel tank calibration is shocking though. Mine says no range with 20L to go. Toyotas usually leave about 12L from empty light anyway but 20 is a bit too much.

Hi At the risk of boring everyone to death about fuel tanks Etc. Here is my two cents worth have not got fuel figures for a full tank because I have only been doing short trips & only putting about 30 litres in at a time so decided to do a little check . At this point my range to empty said 45 km fuel needle was half way between E. & 1/4 kept driving low fuel light came on solid at 35 km. hit trip meter at this point & drove 35 more km when refuel warning came on kept driving for another 20 km at this point the fuel needle was the thickness of itself below E mark, now is when I thought quit while your ahead, so chickened out & filled tank to the brim. It took 71 litres, so I had 9 litres left in the tank at my average of 10 litres /100 km I would not push it past 50 km in theory would then have four litres left in tank, just at a guess that might be the point where you run dry, if you think about it with only four litres floating in the tank the pick up pipe may not be able to suck it up so we probably cannot literally suck tank dry. So this all tells me in future safely do no more than 55km after getting refuel warning. ;) Just adding a PS here anyone know how to get the comparison fuel Dollars/ currency to come up with a dollar value. :?: :?: Cheers.

That is for money saved over the reference consumption, which is 10l/100. So if you do better than that, it should go up.
