Spring Rate to High?

Spring Rate to High?

Postby DylanDD13 on Wed, 19 Apr 2023 8:52 +0000

I recently swapped on some 700lb/in springs into my fox 2.0's and the ride has gotten rougher and the front is higher than the back. Are those the symptoms of the spring rate being overkill for my vehicles weight ?

I just have a front and rear iron bumper (55kg front, 25kg rear)

Would that cause any damage to the struts with the spring rate being to higher than needed ?

There is a possibility that the springs are new and will eventually settle down. Did you get sale part number springs? The spring manufacturer will have these details like spring height and rate mentioned

Yea it's some Eibach springs , part no is 1400.300.700s.

If I lower the lift would that cause any issues ?

All springs need time to settle, if it is the same part number it will settle over time

Rapid settling involves putting a good load in the back and driving over a bunch of Humpty doo's for a few.hours.
Be warned, do it wrong and you'll dramatically shorten the lifespan of your gear.
For those who are unsure, Humpty doo's are shaped like speed bumps, much larger and give the vehicle an ongoing up & down motion . Speed is set.just a little faster than comfortable so that you're making the suspension work WITHOUT banging it.

The ART comes into knowing when to stop. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes to settle springs other times it can take quite a while.

700lbs is ok with a 55kg bar on the front. They'll settle with patience.
I might be wrong.

I agree that "Patience" is the better way to settle springs ... Unfortunately not everyone has much of that any more.

Thanks for the info guys, if that's the case I can wait for it to settle , just wanted to make sure I wouldn't damage the struts or anything
