Gen8 Hilux - 50mm Suspension Upgrade (Leaf pack query)

Hi Forum,

I'm looking at upgrading the suspension in my N80 Hilux. It currently has stock suspension (I think) 3+2 leaf pack in the rear.
Front of vehicle has a steel bulbar so will be going with +50kg front struts.

Constant loads in the rear will be:
  • 60kg (roughly) Fibreglass canopy (hilux has a J deck style tub)
  • 40kg Fridge
  • 40kg Battery & wiring
  • 20kg Boxes (x2)
  • 20kg Camping gear
  • It also has a rear tow bar which I don't know how much that adds

Variable weight while travelling for holidays will be roughly 150kg

My question is what suspension setup would be the best way to go for the rear leaf pack.
  • 0-300kg leaf pack (fulcrum)
  • 200kg constant load leaf pack (Outback Armour)
  • 300kg constant load leaf pack (Tough Dog)
  • Other assembly that I haven't mentioned

If anyone has experience with a similar setup and could provide some recommendations that would be appreciated.
I've spoken to 4 different experts / installers and they all say something different, so I'm just getting a bit confused.

Location Sunshine Coast QLD.

Cheers.

As part of my suspension upgrade/lift I put in 500 - 700kg terrain tamer parabolic springs. I have an aluminium canopy with a modest inside setup & it rides nicely. When I put the van on there is only a small drop in rear ride height. As a bonus, the parabolics look considerably lighter than a comparable normal leaf pack & ride softer than my old 450kg springs.
Maybe look at the lighter parabolics for your setup.
