OME 883 Springs for the front?

Hey guys, I was looking at the invoice from the place that installed my OME lift and under the parts description for the front coils they had is listed as "2005 - 2015 Hilux front coils (no weight) 50mm"

I checked under the car and the tag on the coil says 883X. Are these the correct coils for my gen 8 hilux or did they install ones that aren't really compatible with mine?

OME do use the same front springs they describe for "2005 to 2015" also for "2015 on".
However the OME part numbers for front are normally 4 digits (no alpha), and at least for Hilux would normally start with a 2 or 3. E.g. the recent Gen 8 options I'm aware of are: 2884, 2885, 2887, 2888, 3114, 3176, 3177, 3190.

So I got in touch with them and they told me they installed 2883 springs on my car. I guess that is not the correct spring which explains why my 265/70/17 tires are rubbing even with the OME UCA.

Rubbing going straight over bump or only when turning?
Where is it rubbing? Turn the wheel full lock both ways and look for witness marks at the back of the wheel arch on both sides regardless if it is obviously rubbing the bumper.

Even with a lift kit the wheels should go through a good range of upward travel.
If the springs are too stiff you will lose front end offroad capability and will feel like a bone shaker

I have 884 installed and they should, as far as Iknow , be 10 mm longer than the 883 in free state. Looking at the wheel geometry this should give roughly 20 mm less height gain than mine. Mine have raised the front by 50 mm.

Close, 2883 are free length 375mm and 2884 are 390mm.
I've got 2884 also and with the alloy bar and winch brings me back down to within 10mm of OE ride height which I wanted.
All the 2883/4/5/7/8 springs have the same 590 lbs/in rate, just different lengths. The 3176/7 & 3190 come in the similar length increments but are 660 lbs/in.

I think I was expecting the lift to raise the front even further so that the gap between the tire and top of the arch in the front and back are equal. But maybe that isn't what is meant to happen.

Looks like enough clearance on the body mount. Some heat gun work on the plastic should sort that out.

Alternatively, you can move the UCAs forward a few mm - this may throw your front end geometry out of spec. FWIW mine was way out of spec and while it was a bit more challenging to drive, it was tolerable.

Just an fyi, I went 265/70/17 and mine rub in the same spot. Different suspension, but same issue. I still have standard UCAs. For some reason those mud flaps protrude out toward the tire, but there isn't anything behind them that forces them to. As Hiluxxury said, get the heat gun out and sqaush it flatter. I don't have any signs of rubbing anywhere else.
Looking at the stance I would think a little bit extra clearance under the front would be nice, but not much. The front on these always looks a bit lower than the rear.

So installer recommended I trim that but I don’t like the idea of chopping the body. I don’t think I should be having this issue based on what I read about installing these sized tires that’s why I was thinking maybe it’s because the spring isn’t the correct one for the car.

Ah... i see. Yeah, I dont recommend trimming the body mounts (I spend too much watch Euro NCAP crash testing on youtube).

I recommend going to a wheel alignment shop and see how much they can move the lower control arm (LCA) forward while keeping the geometry in spec. If they cant move it far enough forward, you may need an adjustable upper control arm (UCA).

You changed the offset of the wheels which puts the out side of the tyres go back to far and hits

Just an update regarding my 2883 coils. I spoke to the shop that installed them for me and what I understood from them is the following.

ARB don't have specific recommendations for Hilux with petrol engines. Based on a conversation they had with ARB, they've decided to use 2883 coils on the Gen 8 petrol engine cars.

Gen 7, ARB recommends 2883 coils for the front diesel cars.
Gen 8, petrol cars are also recommended to use 2883 coils

The reasoning being is the following:
- Gen 8 cars are heavier then Gen 7
- Diesel engine is heavier than petrol engine

So Gen 8 with petrol engine is approx weight to Gen 7 with diesel engine.

What offset and size wheel do you have i have the same braid wheels in 17x8 0 offset

Heat gun did the job had minor rubbing due to the offset so i did small trim the bodymount should not rub

I have the srv v6 hilux
