Mine loosened during my most recent crossing of the Simpson, but I'd previously taken the UCA off to do the ball joint.

Otherwise I don't remember anyone taking about it coming off here or the other forums.
I might be wrong.

Who did the work mate? I had the drivers side come loose and only noticed because of it clicking. Shop who did the suspension claim they didn't touch it but they would have needed to too allow enough movement for the new strut assembly to go in. Only drivers side seems to need this, passenger side has enough movement somehow. Shop that did the work for me was Fourbys at Moorooka. Only 2 companies have worked on the ute since brand new, Llewellyn Toyota and Fourby's. Note the obvious tool marks in the photos, passengers side had no tool marks.

Hi, did anyone work out the cause of the bolt coming off the control arm?
It’s just happened to me (2018 SR5 hilux)
Cheers

I know it’s a old convo but just to make a point you don’t have to touch the upper arm to get the strut in or out at all.
Many people do it that way but you can drop the lower arm away and drop the strut straight Down.
Certainly not saying they did or did not touch it but certainly is plausible.

Done it this way for a long time as when doing suspension upgrades you do a wheel alignment anyway so doesn’t matter if you mess the alignment up.

Did someone remove it previously?

If it isnt correctly torqued, theres a chance it will come off.

I had mine lose the nut and washer south of Oodnadatta, in the middle of bumfùck....bolt very nearly came out. Only thing that stopped it was the air cleaner box. Strut was banging around horribly on one of the roughest tracks I've had the mispleasure of finding myself on. Pinched a nut off of the rear spring hanger , taped it up and cable tied it so it didnt fall out either then when I made it to town local mechanic found some half width nuts. Put them on and nipped them up against the ones on there like lock nuts. They're still like that 2 years later.
Occupational health and safety officers..Stop messin with Darwin's theory of natural selection... Stupid hippies.

I've always fitted two nuts to my UCAs on my hiluxs. The new one that comes with the UCAs and then the original one beside it to lock it in. Never had an issue. Simple tip.
