They look fancy but why do you need them?

seems quite a few people snap their links. not sure if the factory links are weak or they start hitting around when the tracks turn gnarly......

News to me but ok. I've lifted hundreds of 4x4s of all makes and models over the years and trust me when I say that out here they get thrashed and I've never seen a broken sway bar link. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but rather it's caused by lack of maintenance and abuse not the lift. When the Amarok came out I thought they'd have big trouble with sway bar links as they run a plastic link but they don't even seem to fail when lifted. Just food for thought! Most of us just rip the whole sway bar out anyway![emoji6]

I've not seen a sway bar link snap either. The only advantage to upgrading this link is for a sway bar disconnect link.

TOYZX - in your experience, have you seen people blow CVs more once they have removed their sway bar completely?
I might be wrong.

I didn't find anything here but on Facebook group there are quite a few, seems a common problem..... I agree it may only happen when in aggressive articulation but I can't guarantee it won't happen to me......

I know lots ppl just remove the swaybar completely but it's not an option to me at the moment. ImageImageImageImageImage

Interesting. The top and bottom pic are on a n80 so they may have changed the part or it was just seriously abused.. its facebook where you never get the full story.

The 2nd pic is of a broken aftermarket link.
I might be wrong.

they are all n80 the aftermarket link is superpro, and it seems its not longer than the factory link even at its full extension. I believe they all got 2 to 3 inch lifts, they may all have proper uca diff drop etc none of the cv angle looks too crazy.....

I don't know how tough the track is when they broke the links but seeing the cv and everything else are alright I can't call it too extreme......

Interesting - never heard of this on n70 models
Did any of those FB members mention using sway bar re-locators?

I don't know if they have the spacer but I have 3" front + proper diff drop + uca the swaybar is closed but not touching. I tested it on ramp/jack the space didn't change but not sure if it will change with sudden impact or extreme articulation. with the spacer that clearance will be at least 20mm I don't think there's any chance the swaybar will hit the strut.

I'm thinking what kind of force will the links take when in extreme articulation? not sure if its the wheel lifting or compression that stretch the link most?

All seems a little sus to me. Plenty of lift kits require the sway bar to be moved forward but don't c o me with any bits to move it. Hard to know what tue story is behind half the stuff ya see online these days!
No I've not seen an increased number of broken cvs. Some people say they have dislocated them tho. I think the consensus is the old right boot is what kills most cvs!

Thanks. Saw one bloke who was trying out his newly de-swayed lux take on a familiar track to blow an outer CV early on a climb. Could have been any number of things but he was quick to blame it on the sway bar removal as it was easier for the wheel to achieve full droop.

the hanging link normally just cut the cv boot rubber, the actual cv wasn't damaged. sometimes it cut the abs cable which you'll be out of 4wd that's the biggest problem.....

:? Curious
Seen plenty of N70 owners drive hard, smashing CV's . Never heard of just the links failing. Anyone else?

Doubt N80 sway bar links and bolts have less in tensile strength than N70... although stranger things happen
Seems to be something else going on here
