UCA brands - for & against

Postby DaveSumm on Thu, 28 Jun 2018 8:58 +0000

G'day, all.

I'm looking at getting a pair of UCA's to go with my King OEM shocks that have about a 60mm lift. On full extension my OEM UCA's are just about nicking the springs. Don't often fully extend them but a few times airborne on the beach at 100KPH does the trick. After a lot of googling there seems to be a lot that look flimsy and some that look properly designed & made. I'm interested in the latter. Price is a factor but it's not high on the list if there is a noteable difference in quality between the price ranges.

I've heard a lot of good and bad about Total Chaos, if someone is in the know can they give me pro's and con's?

Superior Engineering seems to make a good product as do Camburg plus a shitload more that i can't remember.

Thoughts?

I have searched the forum but there isn't much that's pertinent to reviewing what's available for the Gen 8

UCA brands - for & against

Mate if cost is a drama. Have a look at black hawk ones. That’s what I have and have nothing bad to say. Theyve copped an absolute flogging and no problems at all.
I decided to go this way as they use OE size bushes and ball joints so it’s no drama to replace parts in the future plus I read some bad things about the uniball joints other brands use, being noisy and having to be replaced often.

I’m interested in this too.
Basically looking at a fixed solution so brands like
superior engineering
Cal offroad
Were a couple I have had recommended to me.
But I would like to hear some other people’s experience with them? Real world not just a salesman because he sells it.

I have the superior arms, they made it so much nicer to drive but you have to grind away your shock tower for clearance, even then mine still touch a little on full articulation

Can you grind the UCA down around the ball joint to make more tyre room? i have 265/50/20 and it nearly hits the UCA and i want to put a bigger tyre on without having to spend the extra on new UCA at the moment. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere i could not find anything

You could try that. The risk is the UCA might fail.

How about a different rim offset?
I might be wrong.

yeah that is the next option, i bought the rims second hand not knowing the offset and they were off a ranger  just did not want to buy new rims if i did not have to.
