Postby ronnyle on Sun, 10 Dec 2017 10:30 +0000

Hi new just got my Hilux 2017 and new to the 4wd scene. Just wondering can anyone tell me how can I get the Old Man Emu OEM BP-51 suspension to 2 inch or higher than what ARB said it can only go 40mm. Thanks!

Sure, wind up the struts and put way over spec leaves on the rear. You should get 80mm lift, no droop and it'll ride like a pig.

Do you already have the BP51s fitted to the car, or just considering them ?

What are you trying to achieve with the car by going higher ? Is it just for appearance, for fitting larger tyres (what size), or perceived performance improvements for your usage ?

You’ll fit 33’s on with them if you use aftermarket UCA and the right offset rim.. I have 32’s with them and could get a 33 on.

For that kind of money I'd get King OEM shocks. Can go up to 4" or maybe more.

You wouldn’t be running a 4in lift on their standard oem series shocks /struts unless you were happy with sweet FA droop. They would supply a set to suit your needs at minimal extra cost through I reckon. ARB wouldn’t do that.

what offset are you running? im not getting consistent answers from tyre shops, bob jane said 25+, tyrepower said 10-15, and a numpty at a JAX dealership tried to tell me that the SR and SR5 had different suspension

Same thing happened to me, couldnt get any decent advice off anyone... ended up taking advice of a shop that sold me the wheels to fit +18 they said anything less and it will be outside the guards... they still sit right in (trd flares). In saying that, I don’t get any rubbing etc. if I could choose my wheels again I’d get 0 offset.
