Gvm upgrade are large indicators needed!?!?

Postby Josip1986 on Mon, 24 Jul 2017 1:00 +0000

Hi,

Just bought a new hilux sr and took it to a a mob to get a gvm upgrade. I just went to look at the car and they put massive yellow indicators on my front doors just under the side mirrors!?!? They assure me it's needed but everything I read said only 79 series need them. Considering I have side mirror indicators not sure yet and want to confirm weather I get them to get me 2 new doors.

Well I've done plenty of gvm upgrades on a range of makes and have never heard of replacing or adding indicators!

I think it has to do with the GVM weight. Once you go over 3500kg, the vehicle is now classed as a medium vehicle and is now required to meet NB1 vehicle standards. Part of his requirement is to have cat 6 side markers. What GVM kit did you put in? I believe the standard GVM for the SR5 is 3000kg.

I'm gonna ask them what's the deal when I get mine done. Don't want that on my car!
How's the ride with the big suspension upgrade though?
