Aftermarket Suspension for 2016 Hilux

Has anyone fitted a 2inch suspension lift on their new steed?

If so, what did you get and what are your thoughts? Does the rear settle down with decent leafs and shocks???

Although much improved from my last hilux, the rear feels unstettled and is nothing on the Ford Ranger. I am hoping that a good aftermarket suspension mob can help, and hopefully get it on par with the ford comfort wise.

Went to ARB and they are still waiting to get their hands on a kit for their own hilux, and Tough Dog have fitted some but couldn't tell me much about whether their was much improvements. Ultimate weren't too helpful either.

I got the old man emu on mine and I am not too impressed. It's a very stiff rough ride on the bitumen. The dealer ordered medium springs for it when I generally don't carry much weight. The old man emu feels like a basic bottom of the line suspension kit to me that gives you a bit of a lift. I'm saving up for a kidney belt.

barn, if ya not happy with the ride then go back, of you only have the ordinary ome stuff then they can be a little rough on road witht the wrong springs. If you have bp51s then whoever set them up did it wrong!

Ok TOYZX I will give them a call back and see what they can do. I am going off-road for the weekend so I'll have a chance to test off road.

You may want to change over to the right springs before you start using them off-road. They may not want to know you if they get too dirty and look like they have had some use...

If you do not carry any weight, is it even worth upgrading the leaf springs? Are you better off spending a little more coin on decent shocks only?

So I could carry dirt bikes on the weekend, and go away and fill it full of camping gear every month. And no, I don't want a trailer... Apart from this I don't carry anything around during the week. Just a lot of driving on secondary roads "unloaded" for work.

Not everyone is hulling a ton around all day everyday fellas, so just asking the question as to whether there can be improvements to suspension when not loaded. Sorry if this seems offensive to some...

Hey mate i am in the same boat as you. Only ever have a dirt bike or some camping gear in it. Apart from that it is always empty.

The trouble with the new hilux is that it is different setup to the previous model hilux. If you measure the old n70 leaf pack you will fine from center it is 610MM to front eye and 680MM to rear eye. Therefore the rear of the leaf bends a lot more easier than the front.

On the new model it is exactly the same measurement center to front and rear eye. This is why they give a bit more of a course ride due to the whole spring working, not just the rear section. I guess you can say its a feature not a fault :(

Thats what Ill be doing....nothing wrong with the stock leaves if you dont carry much weight or any regularly.

Will be fitting better and longer shocks from MR, extended shackle and/or a 1" block for a little more height.

I ran stock leaves on my 07 without any issue ever. thou they were reset 30mm above stock.

The TJM xgs 2" lift kit rides a little rougher than stock. I'd probably call it a firm ride than a rough ride. Or it could be my choice of tyres. Still provides plenty of articulation off-road thanks to the longer shocks. There is a bit of body roll at the start of a turn but then remains relatively flat.
