I've had the Icon fronts fitted along with some ARB relocators. Now the arb is too close to the radiator/skidplate arms. People mentioned their kits came with spacers to drop the arms slightly. Can anyone tell me how big the spacers were and whether the skidplate fitted without mods.

TJM ARB relocators (the gold ones on the left)

ARB now very close to hitting the radiator lower support arm

In one of the kits mentioned before they showed replacment arms but in another post, someone mentioned their kit had spacers that moved the arm slightly lower.

I saw that. But someone mentioned spacers for the original arm and wondered what size they were so I can get some made - I'm in the UK and getting parts from companies in Australia is proving difficult for some reason.

Just space it down with some high tensile washers and bolts untill your happy with the clearance.

That was the short term plan but wanted to get some proper spacers machined up. Thought I'd see if anyone knew the size from their kits and whether the bash plate needed spacing too.

G'day guys,

Doing plenty of reading but still a little confused..
I thought I was on the right track looking at which
shock/strut had most travel. But lifted only 2-2.5"
with this travel on full droop my UCA will touch coil??

To get the best out of a long travel strut UCA upgrade
would be essential?

I have really been focusing all my attention to
MR matrix gear, Radflo 2.0, Icon and fox 2.0 until I read that
someone mentioned they are now made in china..??

I'm just wanting to make the lux as capable as possibly and
compfortable as possible when on the dirt..

Thanks in advance guys!

Greetings!

I love this Idea from Dan!

Heres whats happening to the HiLux owners in Thailand that are using 2.7 Petro 2wd:

1. Shops are still throwing n Shocks for the Vigo instead of the Revo, which is a new Gen.
2. They have ARB heavy bar work and are attempting to install heavier Springs from Old Man Imu.
3. This leads to a serious Saag/Squat problem with the front end driveability on 2wd vehicles possibly 4wd.

We are scratching our heads looking for a Solution to correcting this problem as our Hilux is primarily used for towing and recovery. Not 4X4ing and need a comfortable and plush ride which is not happening with Barwork, Winch (WARN8000) and Bilstien shocks up front.

Hopefully Icon can give us a few solutions for drivability and Chassis stability.

Thanks Dan, please tell all of Us how your build using Icon Shocks and Springs comes out!

Lift Kit

Postby NebulaLux5 on Thu, 12 Oct 2017 3:19 +0000

G'day all

I'm looking at getting a 2" lift for my Lux. $1800 is my limit. I've come across brands such as Ironman, TJM, Tough Dog, Formula 4x4 etc and was wondering if anybody could tell me which brand would be the best for a lift?

Cheers all

All depends on what you plan on doing with your Hilux.

Are you looking at just daily driving, touring based or better off road articulation (good luck with IFS flex, haha)?
The MudBug: 1999 LN167R, 3.0L 5L, N/A diesel
The "BushRanger": 2002 KZN165R, 3.0L 1KZ-TE, turbo diesel

Thread moved to correct section
$1800 May only just exclude some good options
Save a few hundred more - you have a 60k+ vehicle with accessories - why scrimp 2 or 300 on suspension

Just a few options:
Bilstien
EFS
OME
Dobinson
Etc.

Most of these guys can supply a kit to suit your needs and some can tailor a kit to suit your exact corner weights.

I should have set from forum sponsor Ultimate Suspension arriving today that’s in that budget. Will be fitting myself which saves a few though, which saves a few $$. Ultimate’s have been great to deal with too.

Anyone seen in the wild or purchased the Bilstein B60 shocks for their hilux? I’ve been tossing up between them and the normal bilsteins...

Big price difference, was wondering what people’s experience was with them.

Advise Needed

2 days ago i installed new coil & lead springs to my brand new Hilux, drove straight to tyre to have new BFG T/A fitted and experienced heavy vibration to the steering once I hit over 80kmh. I thought the new tyres and balance will fix the issue however it didn't.

This morning I took the ute back to the workshop to check over the install, they advised to install spacers to balance the tail shaft. after install of the spacers I continued to experience the same issue.

Need to also mention the front coil springs are heavy duty to allow for a winch and great white spot lights which are not yet installed.

Has anyone experienced this issue? and what do you recommend I do from here?
I have never done this before.

Help will be much appreciated.

What suspension was fitted and how big was the lift? Was a wheel alignment done?
