Can I fit 265/70/17 on SR5 rims without rubbing or will I need a 2” lift?
Thanks

Should be fine. They may come close to your mud guard but will clear everything else on standard SR5 rims.

I run 265/65/17 on my SR5 wheels, these don't even come close to rubbing. When I ran 265/75/16 they did rub the mud guard at weird times but it was never a problem. One thing to keep in mind is that sizes vary between manufacturers.. so always good to test before handing the dollars over.

Btw, a lift won't solve the problem as during the wheels movement along the suspension travel path, the wheel will pass that non-lifted point.

The scrub radius of the tyre is the main issue... on bigger tyres is best managed with changing the rim offset or moving the lower control arms (LCA) forward - or a combination of both when you run larger than 32in tyres. A good wheel alignment shop will help you move the LCA forward and keep the alignment in spec.

Plenty discussed on this forum about all of these.

265/65/17 fit and are just legal, but really need a brake upgrade too as the tyre diameter increases significantly . So at least fit some 2012-15 rotors and calipers so it will still stop as designed.
By my calcs 265/70/17 are 803mm diameter and your originals are 738mm thus are over 50mm bigger so are not legal and will void insurance probably when you need it most. 265/65/17 are 776mm so are legal. You may find 275/65/17 are just legal too, check the published diameter. By specs they are about 51mm bigger than standard but they can vary by a few mm between tyre manufacturers.

Yes, agreed - I went with 265/65/17 because they are legal and plenty big enough for touring, most 4wding etc.

My 33s look better but I suddenly stop breathing each time I see the traffic police out on the road

Thanks guys, haven't been on this forum for quite a few years since my last HiLux so great to see it's still active, appreciate the feedback. Might go with the 265/65/17. My tyre guy has some new (cheap) Bridgestone K02.
