I am running 285/70/17 Cooper STT Max with no body mount chop and with mud flaps still fitted. Have a look at the Guard Chop thread.

So can fitting 285/70/17 be carried out without and form of modification. Would a minimum of just caster adjustment and a possible removal of the mud guards be sufficient?

Yes but... tyre sizing is different between brands. Also some people just put up with a bit of tyre rub while others cant tolerate it.
I run 33s on my gen7 with the LCAs adjusted all the way forward. The mudflap and body mount are still intact.
There is no way on earth I'd cut the body mount. Just watch a couple of vehicle crash test YouTubes to realise why - it not only holds the body up but also deflects the wheel away from cabin during an accident.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
And, from reading a +10 offset is optimum?
Sorry for the questions I just want to get it right as non of my mates have a hilux and I don't have the ability to "test" different configurations.

Yep, read Max"s post on the first page. P10 is the sweet spot. You may notice some light rubbing on your UCA, mudguard and swaybar among other things but this is what most run.

Has anyone tried 275/70/17s on +18 offset wheels? Standard uca and lca. Looking to do this but don’t want ridiculous amounts of scrub

Search the n70 33in thread as well as the fitment issues are basically the same.
Or a general search of the forum as some members aren't here all the time to answer your question.

That's good info. Did you need to move the LCAs forward?

Thanks, have a look at your UCA cam adjusters - the front bolts will be in and the rear will be set out to move the UCA forward.
