john253a and Mutto, Thank you for your responses.
Recently my left rear tire suffered a two inch gash puncturing the outer side wall. I have no idea how it got there. Since it was an OEM tire I went to the local Toyota dealerships, expecting that they had the tire on hand, and was surprised to hear that they would have to order the tire (Dunlop AT Grandtek 265/65R17 112S AT25).
I then went to the local Dunlop dealership and they do not stock OEM tires as well and had to order the tire. This recent experience has caused me to look for a good tire that I can find just about anywhere anytime. The roads here in Thailand aren't good and I'm sure this will not be my last flat tire.
Here are some of the tires that appear, based on my research, to be available in Thailand:
1. Bridgestone Dueler H/T D684
2. Bridgestone D697 (265/65R17 LT)
3. Dunlop GRANDTREK AT3: (NOTE: Allowable wheel width? Dunlop Thailand states 8.)
4. Dunlop GRANDTREK AT22: (NOTE: Allowable wheel width? Dunlop Thailand states 8.)
5. Goodyear WRANGLER AT/SA
6. Maxxis AT700 BRAVO
7. Maxxis MT764 BIGHORN
8. Yokohama Geolandar ATS G012 (NOTE: Wheel width?)
9. Toyo Open Country A/T II
10. Toyo Open Country A/T Plus
11. B.F. Goodrich (NOTE: Couldn't find at tire in 265/65R17.)
12. Michelin (NOTE: Only SUV tire available.)
I'd appreciate to hear from anyone about their experiences with the aforementioned tires.
