Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience with Toyo A/T's, looks like a good tyre and the guy at the tyre place runs them and rates them highly... His have 25,000k on them and probably still have 3/4 of tread left and he tows a 3.5t caravan as well!!

I like the look of the new A/T II and they'll be fitted to a 2016 Hilux SR5, wheel size will be dropped to 17s for better offroadability and feel...

Personal opinion there one of the better tyres around at moment
I have them in mud and also older style Goodyear mud and both very good

My old man runs them on a patrol, driving through a lot of shit, they seem to be holding up well, reasonably good off-road and nice on road too. We are happy and will buy again.

I'm giving them a go after two sets of BFG's. $245.00 ea fitted at Narellan NSW. Choice came down to Bridgestones or the Toyos ( this dealer had both in stock ) and I went with the Toyos on the fact that all the Yokels up in North west Queensland are running them and they swear by their ability to handle the rough gravel roads up that way. I've done 7,000klm on mine with no dramas.....

they're definitely one of the less aggressive all terrain tyres. if you do a lot of on road driving they're great, little to no road noise, decent grip. great in the sand as the tread isnt too aggressive. if you spend most of your time on the road and do light off roading and sand, then these are great. but if you intend to do a lot of gravel work, rocks, or mud then i'd avoid. the side walls aren't particularly strong, i've ripped them to shreds in less then a day on rocks, the tread blocks chip pretty badly over gravel and rocks also.

I was also looking at these for my 2016 Hilux when it arrives but I'm a little confused in that I thought these tyres were aggressive for an AT tyre and they are available in LT construction with a tougher side wall.

Thanks for the replies, considering they come in significantly cheaper than the competitors I think these are the way I'll go....

I have run the 265/70/17 OC AT11 on my previous prado and friggin love them. Quiet on road, good grip and walked them all over Fraser Island at 15 psi. For the record most first lookers think they are mud terrain. They are one of the more aggressive all terrains in my view. Check out Pirelli scorpions or geolander as a comparison. However different sizes have load ratings. Can't imagine a better all rounder provided one's intent is not mostly extreme which I haven't tested them on. They will be straight on my new hilux when I get it next week.

Good to see reviews on the Toyo open country a/t 2. I've been choosing between that or the Nitto grappler g2

How do the A/T II compare to the A/T III ?
Is the III just the newer version?

I bought AT2 set for around $830 last year and after 10k they're great. Not sure what AT3 differences are but the tyre is a genuine light truck spec with very heavy tread and far more tread than the Bridgestone or Falcon AT.
I might add they're not noisy either, as HK says, great in the wet and they look like I should get good mileage out of them.
And the Bridgestone were $100 more!

I just put my second set on. Got decent km out of the first set, mine wears the rears out first but still got well over 60,000 out of the rears. They have good sidewalls and good tread. Awesome on wet roads until they wear down to just legal then they are like driving on soap, which can be pretty scary with a supercharged engine and a quick shifting A750F with Nomad valve body.

Mine have done 25k and are horrible in the wet.

If you think they are horrible, wait until they are 80% worn! Mine are great in the wet, not as good as Yokohama Geolanders but those aren’t much good for towing as they aren’t LT rated.

How good are the Geolanders for offroad stuff?

I had the Geolander ATS, nowhere near as good as the Toyos off-road. Great on road tyre though. I destroyed a Geolander the first time I took them on a dirt road, Inverell to Emmaville NSW.

The new Geolanders look like much more of an all terrain though. Saw them a month or so ago when I got the new Toyos.

Ah just had a look, Yokohama only have the G015 in the size of 265/65/17 which I am after....
G015 looks pretty un-aggressive...

Anyone ran the Wrangler Duratracs?

I used to run the G012 in 265/65/17, still have two here one as a spare under the car. You are right they are not listed on the Yokohama website for Australia. Shame they don’t do the new G016 in 265/65/17 as it is standard on heaps of cars and also the largest legal 17” tyre you can fit on a pre 2012 Hilux.
