Hey i'm trying to play some music through a USB I have inserted into the usb port but the icon does not come up on the headset.

Has any one had any luck with this?

Also is it possible to play videos through the headset?

Try formatting the USB as FAT32

It's really picky on formatting, including the formatting of the stick and even on the id3 tags within the MP3s. I've been trying to get a 32Gig card working but I suspect it's just too big for it to cope with.

Get issues like only sometimes being able to search based on artist or album, seems to get 'stuck' on an album i.e. you hit next track and it just starts playing the same old album again.

Haven't tried video yet.

Cant see any videos through the usb.

Does anybody know what the A/V function on the screen does?? when I click on that a blue screen comes up but that is it.

The format is fat 32 and what i done was i have a 500gb laptop hard drive i put it on my laptop and i split the hard drive in to a couple of partions of 64gb and 32gb partitionsonce that happened i then split my music on to each partition what ever i wanted and placed the usb into the deck port and there you have it it worked like a charm i do say when your doing it make sure you choose the highest bit rate so it runs smoother and faster the only downside is you cant store as much but f$@#&% it you can still have over 2000 songs on each

Pretty sure you need a special cable to connect in an ipod / phone to view movies i.e. USB drive alone does not work. The cable plugs into both the USB and the pin connector input in front of the shift lever.

Whilst I have not tested it and don't have the cable, I fully expect that the playback experience would be disappointing ....

That aux plug you are talking about is audio only. The usb should be more than enough, can do everything else in the world.

What I don't get is somewhere in the setting for the AUX there is a video playback setting asking either PAL or NTSC...so it supports some sort of video. Is there perhaps an input/s on the rear of the head unit that need a cable!??!!

The manual (dare I read it) describes and shows a diagram for an 'ipod' video input cable that includes a 4 pole pin plug (usually just for audio) but including a video segment on the pin.

As I said, I haven't tried to get just USB video to work but that is the only reference to video playback that I have seen in the manual. Let us know if you work out a simpler solution and whether the quality is worthwhile or not.

For the price of 2 cups of coffee I've found out using an USB/iphone5 cable and a 4 pole cable doesn't work. Looks like the only option is the combo cable shown in the manual. The manual also shows a connection for a iphone 4, surely that's not the only option???

It seems to me the signals must be split or switched or have different pin outs which is why using two cable don't work. Love a challenge, but also like there to be an answer too....

there's a list of compatible apple products and iphone 5 or 6 i don't believe are compatible. AN older IPOD along with the usb cable and aux cable is your best option.

ok, so i got hold of an alpine branded ipod classic usb/aux cable. (30 pin one end, usb and aux on the other)
my ipod classic has a couple of videos on it.
you need to change the settings (in ipod settings i think) from 'usb' to 'a/v'
the ipod classic will then play videos on the head unit - and obviously only while the hand brake is on.
the display is ok, nothing to write home about though....
cable similar to the one in the link below:

Link seems to be dead Merkin?

I was using the USB but then was like why not just load them up on my iphone and use the bluetooth audio input... (obviously that doesn't help people with older devices).

Must admit though I'd never used an internet radio before getting this lux and often enjoy the classic rock channel on pandora now ;) Just hate that it has to go though the toyota app which is wishy washy at best... in reality it would of been better off having a wifi in the head unit and connecting to your phone or tablet as an hotspot IMO.

Does anyone know what video formats are playable? Might keep the kids quiet if I can sort that out early
