Auto Clunk and click noise

Postby Cristianmejia on Wed, 28 Feb 2018 9:45 +0000

I have a 2016 Auto hilux, and for a few months now i have noticed that sometimes when i go from Park into reverse there is a loud clunk sound and the shift lever feels tight to move. A few weeks ago i noticed that when i go from Reverse into Drive and vice versa it makes a noticeable clicking noise when engaging into gear.

I took it into toyota yesterday and the technician came back to say that it is normal. They took the same model like mine for a drive and others in the yard to compare and apparently they all make the same noise. He said non of them in the workshop have ever noticed the noise until i brought mine in and he said mine just seems to be louder then all the others.

So im seeing if anyone els out there has noticed their auto making any noises like mine?

Cheers

Mine does the same but only going from park into a gear and only when it's been sitting for a while.

Mine, does the same. To fix when you park put car in neutral, apply hand brake and then put car in Park.

Yep, that's really how you should do it. Had no idea myself before but then my friend told me to do just that when going from reverse to forward. Always put it in neutral before changing to something else if possible.
