Dual Transfer Case for 2016 Hilux

Hello,
Does anyone know if a dual transfer case is available for the current model SR5 Manual Diesel?
Even better, has anyone fitted one to a current model? If so, what are your thoughts?
Available in Australia would be useful....in Melbourne would be great......for less than the total value of my super would be fantastic!

Probably easier to adapt a Verso transfercase then doing twins

Have been pricing up options for the 05-15 model, if same transmission then the below will work.

Also, Low range offroad (USA, will frieght to aus) do a kit to suit, it is for the us tacoma which runs the same 23 splne shaft and r series manual, I have been in contact with them and they have all parts to suit and are happy to help.

They also do a leftie, gear driven transfer, with any ratio but they wont warranty them for our diesels due to torque output. Have read of a few failures online also.

On facebook look up hillside offroad, the owner Max put duals into an auto hilux, gave me plenty of pointers to help with contacts for a manual setup.

I looked into verso, strong and kits available, just stupid expensive.

Personally I am undecided as to tacobox or leave as is, and accept the small amount of clutch slip or wheelspin on rocky climbs.

After my first outing with the new Hilux on some rocky tracks I am convinced that it needs a lower 4WD gear. Smoking clutches and tyres are not what I am looking for! Admittedly I am running 32" tyres which don't help and I wanted to run 33's but I think 33's (on a manual) would be impossible on slow tracks without a gear reduction.

Anytime mate, im running 35s with 4.56 diff gears behind std 5sp manual. Got a dyno remap after cleaning full egr/ intake manifold. discovered lots more low down torque. I dont have issue with slow enough crawl speed generally, few times on adventurous lines i wanted slower for better control which is why i looked into it.

Having already spent 1k on driveshafts and already having custom transmission crossmember for sas i couldnt get clearance and justify cost of going to duals, leftie appealed until i read about strength, and verso, well i couldnt justify 5k when it would be needed only few times a year.

Rory, when did they discontinue? 3 months ago lowrange said they could supply still, just wouldnt warranty it.

Current Gen Marlin Crawler is currently under development.

Whether the adaptors will suit the current hilux will need to be determined. with my N70 all the research we did on both sides of the Pacific still resulted in us needing to emergency airfreight the correct adaptor plate once the chain case was removed anyway.

Current Hilux and Tacoma do share the same transmission so that part is promising.

There is also another alternative being developed which will be a regeared brand new replacement chaincase so you will get the benefit of gearing and the additional strength of the chaincase....but don't expect to see anything this side of 2018.

best option currently is to correctly regear your diffs for your application. with 6th gear being a very tall gear and hardly used even in stock form, slightly over gearing shouldn't be an issue unless you regularly tow heavy loads in 4th 1:1 ratio.

I am pretty certain that the dual case is the best option for me for the following reasons....and I invite any feedback on this please.
As I use the Lux for a range of duties such as daily drive around town, ski boat puller on the highway, heavy camper trailer puller over varied terrain etc, the crawler box would offer the greatest flexibility for different situations and various tyre sizes.
I currently run 275/65/18 ATs as the daily drive tyres and these are perfect with the factory gearing for daily driving and most 4X4 driving. This tyre size even corrected my 5% speedo inaccuracy on the factory rubber! So I would like to keep to 275/65/18 tyres and the factory ratios in this scenario.
On rocky crawl type tracks, with the manual transmission, I found the standard low range just too fast even with the 275s and for weekends I will run 285 (33") MT rubber. Shod with this size I would definitely need to gear down further. This is when the extra reduction would come in.
Oh! and the other benefit.......low range 2WD to back the trailer up the driveway!
