Slipping Auto Transmission

Postby JHSR5 on Wed, 07 Dec 2016 3:31 +0000

Hi all,
My 2016 SR5 6 speed automatic has been slipping. Ive had it in at toyota. No codes. They topped up fluid (500ml) It is still slipping. Seems to be at low speeds, turning corners. Doesnt matter if it is hot or cold. Also does not do it all the time. It has 8000klms. Had the tail shaft replaced, but cant remember if it was doing it before the fix. If any one has had this issue and/ or has the fix. Please let me know so i can pass on to my local dealer. Thanks

Is it slipping or more floating around between gears under light throttle ?

Hi Creaky, Yeah it floats if thats the write terminology . Its hard to describe. i depress the pedal lightly. It revs for a few seconds then engages the gear. Ive had all software updates.

Mine does it too, most noticeable when still cold but maybe that's just cause I drive it easier when it's cold. I haven't had the update yet.

Does yours do it all the time or only occasionally? Ive had the update 3 times. Ive had the tech foreman come for a drive twice. Of course it didnt do it when he was in the car. It seems to be how slowly im driving and how much pressure i apply to the accelerator pedal.

It seems occasional but possibly that is just the circumstances i.e. when I am pottering around trying to be light on the throttle. Does it do it when using the 'power' mode ? My auto feel much more responsive (ignoring the throttle response) in power mode than in auto (which kicks into eco when you are driving lightly).

I think it does. Ive only used power mode a couple of times. I will confirm it tomorrow.

Just went for a drive in power mode to the shops and back, can confirm it does slip.

Mine does this and told the dealer about it on my last visit. Aparently theres a software update thats specific to this problem that has been released. Not talking about the new auto software update either as already had this done. Only one other person had this problem from what the dealer was saying and this update fixed it so I will report back once its done on mine...
