Noisy 1st gear.

At delivery my manual had a quiet whine when under acceleration. As time went on it got louder till now at 20k it is quite audible. This seems to be only in 1st gear, although sometimes I think I hear it in 2nd. Also a slight whine when changing down from 4 to3 to 2. Dealer says it is probably the gear cut and no problem. I always thought a noisy gearbox was a faulty gearbox. But times change and technology changes. Anyone have any ideas about this please.
