Locker Anytime

Postby creaky on Thu, 10 Nov 2016 6:42 +0000

Saw this 'Locker Anytime' module from Buds Customs when trawling the site:

http://www.budscustoms.com.au/locker-an ... rtuna-revo

I know some guys were doing a 'fun button' type setup in the FJ which did similar things.

Would be a nice option in the sand (I prefer 4H in soft sand 99% of the time) when a locker would be a plus on occasion.

The Buds 'black box' setup ain't cheap though.

Has anyone looked at doing something similar in their N80 yet ?

i had not thought about it but its not too bad a price.

my first trip up the beach in my N80 i didn't use 4L once and and no point felt like getting stuck with my General tyres at 20psi.

Might make some bush tracks a little more friendly?

Your rear axle warranty would be compromised, that's for sure. But in saying that, it is a big beast so should be fairly strong unless there is a significant design flaw.

Would come in handy! I feel the price is fair. But as mentioned only negative would be warranty dramas later on if something let go.

Something Toyota should have done from factory. Worth it. 3 wheel driving sucks.

how easy/hard would it be to remove - eg, before taking it back to a toyota service place?

as easy as switching plugs on the top of the diff back to the factory toyota setup if you wish. the black box is mounted out of sight behind the switch panel where the factory tcs & diff lock switch is.

you thinking they would make notes or take pics when checking over the vehicle at service time?

Wow, that was quick. Now go and be a nice guinea pig and give it a flogging :D

So no soldering into existing wires as was suggested in the ad on Buds page ?

thats the plan :D
controlled conditions of course !!

ahh no, maybe they have done some modifications but its all plug and play. the only soldering might be doing the connections for the fuses to the passenger kick panel cpu and or the push button on the factory dash panel infron of the gear shifter

No soldering. Plug n play. Just a plug to assemble so it's easy to feed wires through firewall.

What about abs ? With the factory system it disables abs . Im assuming with anytime locker it leaves it on . Could that cause a problem as the rear is locked and abs will try to brake individual wheel .
