It was 100% better for about 1,000 km but had gotten worse over time and now back to where it was before they changed it. Had to wait quite a while for the new tail shaft to come from Toyota but obviously it is the same design unless Toyota screwed up their design twice. Letting the dealer know the issue is back. Will see what happens.
Fark me! I hope you got an old one.... Just got my new tail shaft today and it's a totally different truck. So smooth.
The dealer has asked me to take it back so they can confirm the problem is back. The first time they come to a stop they will know it is back. They tell me the Tail shaft replacement is the current fix and there has been no further update from Toyota. Let us know in a few weeks if you can feel it coming back. I noticed it slightly within a couple of weeks and then it just got worse. Very similar to when I first bought the car. I see others have had the the replacement also to find the problem return.

kinigo270 wrote:Slight correction to sentence above re the fix. I meant to say that apparently in the factory where they produce the tail shafts, the blades that cut the metal were getting blunt and those ones that were towards the end of the cycle just before they replaced the cutting blades were the tail shafts that had the issues. So for all recently built hiluxes, they only installed the tail shafts that had been cut with clean sharp blades ( and they also reduced the overall number of units that get cut by any given set on machine blades) which is what prevents the issue. Again, this was all verbal and dealership was not able to show me any bulletin or evidence to prove. Anyone else hearing the same thing? I want to hold off from purchasing till I can get confirmation. Thanks

Can you post the part number? It is easy to read when looking under the car. Can anyone who has the new tail shaft fitted post the part number? Thanks.sugaris wrote:It's been awhile since I posted but I had a Field replacement tail shaft installed into my Hilux on the 31st August. I can confirm that the clunk thunk bang is gone! when I stop now... nothing. just a smooth stop.. it glorious!

Thanks Adam, that is the latest tail shaft number for the fix. Let's hope it works, time will tell! I purchased my vehicle in October last year, and went through all the stuff everyone else has/is going through. Two weeks ago had it replaced with a shaft with the same number as yours, problem gone smooth as for now! But, a family member who purchased at the same time had his replaced albeit at a different dealership in a different city had his replaced in the same week, and the problem was still there! Is he pissed of yes! We compared vehicle drives on the weekend and so different. Chalk and cheese. The part number for the family member who had it replaced was 37100-0KG80-00 3BB, it was replaced with the old version, we have the pics! As of Monday this week his is now going to have it replaced by the red faced dealership! Nearly 12 months after our purchases!!! Hope this helps everyone and is a permanent fix, time will tell.DeadlyBeast wrote:Good on you Adam. Afaiks thats the first time anyone has posted anything resembling a part number after many others requests in view of taking the part # to their dealership
Vman0100 wrote:Hey Sugaris, Did you get yours replaced with Mike Carney? I'm up here in the 'ville with the same problem - mentioned it to them at my 1000km inspection last month and they said they had no solution. Just wondering whether you had to hassle them or whether it was a straight forward 'negotiation', so hopefully I can get mine replaced?
Cheers.
