IT'S a all new hilux we shouldn't have to put up with this crap.
And what about all the hrs taking it back. They should be given us taxi vouchers.

I am still pissed, but the Hilux is in my good books this week after my Audi's gearbox crapped itself over the weekend. There goes the bullbar and snorkel (at the very least) savings.

Here is the bulletin number for the issue guys tnf88/15

And these words are from someone inside of toyota

(Yeah there is a bulletin from Toyota which says they're having problems with the slip joint in the rear driveshaft. The splines are now machined properly and the chatter when they slide which feels like a jolt through the centre of the car)

Speaking of the back the central locking lasted for about a day on the boot lid has been back 3 time's.the front brakes are squeaking, the plstic grill is has big bubbles on n it and needs replacing, the badge on the passenger door is falling of and the arm rest on the drivers side keeps coming off.
Oh what a feeling

What do you mean by that? Is it a noise or a racking sensation?

Like you have a loose gas cylinder in the tub, or being rear ended by a small scooter.

Yeah, I get that a bit, thought it was just the shift of weight when you come to a stop at the lights. what do you think is causing it?

Yeah, I actually had a problem manager guy contact me. Apparently the tail shafts that have been replaced is as part of a test, and if successful will be made available more widely.

Had my 1000km service today. I mentioned the sensation of the thud in the back when stopping.
The mechanic explained it like this:

- The tailshaft has a section that allows for the shaft to extend and shorten (with suspension movement).
- The expandable sections are splined together and need to slide on each other.
- Apparently they have come out of the factory with slightly rough splines that "grab" and give that rocking sensation when stopping.

The current Toyota field fix is to take it apart and polish down the splines in order for they to mesh smoothly. They did it to mine today and it has so far fixed the problem. Will be interesting to see if it is a permanent fix or it will need a new shaft.

Stop wasting your time, new tail shafts are being made to prevent the clunk, all new models have teething issues

My old 2012 bt50 3.2ltr had 3 engines replaced, blown turbo hose, two broken seat springs, 5 broken fuel caps and so on, all in 3 years 70000kms, was off the road for a total of 7 weeks which cost me work and income.

The problems you have are pathetically small in comparison!

Yes these problems are minor in comparison to your run of bad luck, however these are brand new, expensive vehicles and in this competitive day and age, people don't expect to have these issues.

every new car has problems no matter what the price. you should expect some sort of imperfection right off the floor. take advantage of your warranty and make the car better before it expires.

Picked my sr5 about 3 weeks ago. Clunking all the time and slipping 3rd to 4th when cold. Also the trans doesn't seem to know what it's doing, going at 110 down the hwy and it won't pick up top gear unless I take my foot completely off the pedal. Other times in my street doing 50 it grabs top and vibrates before changing up. Going in for 1st service Thursday and I'll be telling them. Great car shit tranny.

I just took my new SR5 in today with a bit of shuddering/clunky problem that I noticed when I was pretty much at a stop or when I take my foot off the brake before heading off again. They related the problem back to the Tail Shaft and have told me they are ordering parts to replace it. He said Toyota have changed the design and this should fix the problem. Might be a few weeks to get the part though.

Hi,
I'm new to the forums. This is my first post. I'm looking at getting the latest model sr5. I mentioned to the dealer my concerns about the tail shaft issues some people on this forum have been reporting. He said he would speak to the service manager and get back to me. I received an email with the following 'there will be no re-call and that there is a remedy for the few vehicles that have been affected'. No mention of what the remedy was though.

I was told that there is no replacement part yet if the field fix does not work. Of course I have bought one, while they are trying to sell you one :)
