CV - Left and right

2016 SR5 - Are the left and right CV's the same? I want to know if you can just buy one as a backup when touring to put in either side? Thank you.

Not 100% sure about N80 but if they are anything like N70 CVs they will be the same.
However if the oil seals that press into the diff are shot, they are left and right side dependant.

Has anyone bought a genuine front CV assembly from Toyota? What are they worth? I was wondering if anyone recommends a third party that does it better?

Get a genuine one from a wrecker. Chances are the donor vehicle has just been driven in 2wd.

I've had GSP, Repco and another brand that I cant remember the name of and I've found the geniune CVs to be much stronger - mainly because the joints can bend further.
I might be wrong.

Thanks. Whenever I go to Toyota they look at me as though I have two heads. It would be great to have a Toyota dealer who would take the time to listen to your questions, take you seriously. I might try again and see if I can get a service manager.

I have. I think it was about $400 or so. My Toyota dealer had a few in stock too.

I went genuine because it was only about $90 more than the non-genuine version.
