I have a Gen 8, 2016 Hilux with 135K on the dial, It overheated the other day and went in to be fixed found the radiator was blocked with debris, so Toyota flushed, cleaned radiator and cooling system and replaced thermostat, and gave it a service

So get it back and 2 days later driving down road doing 80km ( 34 degree day) and the temperature gauge is fluctuating going up to max and then falling back down continually ) no matter what speed. Checked water level in radiator and its about a quarter full.

Going back to Toyota Monday but have questions has any else had this problem, could it be a another faulty thermostat, I checked engine oil its fine it was replaced in service but very black, where the hell is water going could not see leak and obviously wasn't boiling out radiator cap.

At a loss, its been serviced regularly. :?
Any suggestions would be helpful :?:

I've seen posts on facebook claiming that coolant leaks can come from faulty egr valves. Think their water cooled themselves.
Mine (2017) is loosing some coolant now, so im keen to find out more about the faulty egr valves as i cant find an obvious leak on ine.

I had a small leak from the pipes near the water pump, I twisted the clamps a bit and has been okay since.

Ok so they did a pressure test on coolant system and it failed, checked Egr and found coolant leaking  So silverfox1111 you were correct, should tell them to bypass it and take DPF out while they are at it

Coolant leak through EGR cooler has been reported as far as two years ago in my place. Toyota tries real hard to suppress any such news without leaking out into the media or forums so god knows how many have actually leaked. The EGR cooler was replaced under warranty. This is one of the reasons I got he EGR blocked on two ends - the exhaust side as well as intake manifold side - on my 1GD since I did not want any liquid to leak into the gas circuit and end up within the combustion chamber creating more problems.
