Engine oil

Gday all
Thinking of changing the engine oil in my 2017 diesel from 0w-30 to 5w-40. From what I've read over the years, 30 weight oil isn't realistic for our summer temps, especially when working the car hard. Has anyone else done this?
Also, I've still got 20 litres of 5w-40 synthetic c3 oil that i used in my last car that I'm thinking will be right for the hilux. From what I've read, the only difference between the c2 thats supposed to go in the hilux & c3, is that c2 is for better fuel efficiency. Whats everyone's thoughts on using this oil?

Good idea, I've put a 5w-30 valvoline oil in my 2016 sr5. Seems a lot quieter when at operating temp and doesn't breath half as much oil into Provent. I will step it up to a 10w-30 or 40 next.

Yeah 0 or 5 is way to thin if ya live where it get anywhere near 40°.

The 0w or 5w is the thickness (not correct term, but it will do) of the oil when it's cold. For our summer temps or high loads on the motor we need an oil with a higher weight than the 30 specified, in my opinion.

I've been using nulon 5w30 since my first service (5k, I service ever 5 thousand) without any problems, 0w30 is too expensive and more difficult to find
