Weird loss of power over bumps corrigations

Postby codhog on Wed, 13 Sep 2017 4:43 +0000

Hopefully someone has had a similar issue and knows a fix. 2010 D4D runs fine then motor dies but not completely when hitting ruts, potholes, any rough surface really. Motor recovers until the next rough patch. There is no engine light or error code. It doesn't do it all the time but is getting more regular. About the third time this had happened last 2 times it stopped for a while after changing the fuel filter, but not this time. Injectors maybe? Any assisted greatfully received.

Probably a stupid suggestion that you've already done, but have you tested the battery?
Mine was doing a similar thing and it turned out to be a really discharged battery car would start fine and drive normally and yeah just randomly loose everything dash lights, tahco and speedo for a second and then it would all come back.
Too much electronics these days!!
Had me beat I was looking for loose cables or something caus it would start fine battery didn't seem drained at all.
Also be a good idea to check the battery terminals (which you've probably done already too)

Haven't got a damaged vacuum line or something, making it loose boost in the rough stuff.

Looks like problem is a fried aftermarket cruise control fitted by Toyota in 2011, tech guy at Mildura Toyota was on to it like a shot. But had the benefit of seeing it beforehand. Funny thing was the issue was happening even though the cruise wasn't being used at the time.
Anyway tanks guys for having a crack, it was much appreciated.

Well there you go! something else to keep in the memory bank! I also have aftermarket cruise control, been thinking of removing it as I will never use it. This makes me even more inclined to take it out!
