Why does it need replacing mate- do you know?

Just wondering if you have allowed it time to wind down after driving it (particularly after driving at speeds above 60kmh) or if you have just driven it like a petrol, turning the engine off quickly after stopping?

Not having a go at you, just trying to work out if allowing idle time after stopping prior to turning off the engine, protects the turbo...

That's a fair question to ask - I was told that I needed a new turbo because of some oil on the air compression side of the turbo. That was 170,000kms ago. It was just oil from the engine breather.
I might be wrong.

Even if you have heaps of oil on the inlet or exhaust side it just normally stuffed seals. Itd be heaps cheaper to get it rebuilt then to replace it. Also if you are even semi ok with tools its no very hard to change yourself

depends on how much is leaking. Mine is leaking very slowly. As long as the oil is not near the exhaust side which could catch fire, I will just ignore it until the garage floor got oil stain.
